It's that feeling that runs thru your body during the expanse of time between the marshall calling 10 seconds
and GAME-ON that sets you up- it's a rush, it's what fires you into (and hopefully thru) the game! Without getting too poetic, ask any playa' and he/she will tell you there is no rush like it;-

As for tips, train with your team and put yourself in pressure situations and play your way out 2, 3 or 4 on 1 or 2.

As for the tourney, just get your kit set up early and walk the fields with your team (and anyone else who might know what they are doing? )

Play like a mean mo-fo on the day!

Hope these words of encouragement help,

So I need to **** myself, get tight, shoot loads and have fun.......sounds like a normal weekend!!!!!!:D

Thanks for all the advice guys, hopefully it will all help! Continuing with the theme, apart from the obvious, (money!, marker, paint, etc) is there anything I should bring? (I'm thinking more of those trade secrets style bits of advice!!!)

Off field advice:

One last thing, once all your kit has been setup on the morning, all markers are up and running all you want on the table is markers, masks and open boxes of paint. Anything else just makes the table look messy and doesn't help when you are looking for something.

When you are filling up pods before your games make sure they are packed in well, enough so that if you close the pod and shake it you can't hear a rattle. If there is a rattle pop a few more balls in there, this helps prevent balls breaking in the pods while you are running. This is very nasty if you don't notice it and you load paint covered balls into your loader !

Also, as soon as you leave the field get clean up, don't leave it. Get sorted first then eat / drink and wait for your next game. And if you are sorted with kit, cleaning kit, filling your pods, fill up air if needed, etc, and a teammate still has stuff to do then help them out rather than watch them get on with it !!

Just some helpful tips.

Don't forget to bring plenty of kitchen roll or similar - everyone forgets stuff to clean paint of themselves and their kit, & it can be quite funny watching a whole team trying to get cleaned up with 3 sheets of toilet roll and half a grubby tissue :D
Spares of everything you have spares of especially pots, and label all your pots as they tend to go for a walk.
Water, both for cleaning stuff & drinking. If possible, a plant type spray for squirting water over your kit as thats really good for getting paint out of those awkward placed e.g. the porting in your barrel.
Change of clothing, especially trousers & socks. You WILL get sweaty & grubby, and it's better for your car's upholstery plus you'll feel much more comfortable on your trip home.
Spare batteries. Batteries always run out on either your hopper or marker mid-way through a tournament when no-one has any for sale.
If you smoke, take at least twice as many ciggies as you think you'll need. Not only will you smoke more than usual, but all the rest of your team will run out. And a spare lighter - they also always seem to run out or break when you need them most.

Most of all, have fun & don't worry too much. Just make sure you prepare as much as possible (e.g. check your kit 2 days before so you can arrange replacements for bits that don't work, try to get there the day before to walk the fields etc), and get yourself sorted out as soon as one game finishes rather than waiting till you're called for the next. Read what Theldren wrote - he's right! If in doubt, ask your more experienced team mates.

Here's a hint...

Tell everybody it's your first tournament including marshals and you aren't to sure as to how it works, then, on the break, run to the other side of the field, while being shot repeatedly, grab the flag, while REALLY being shot, run back to the other side and hang the flag. While the marshal is shouting at you, tell him you are Chris La Soya and you will win the game. Easy.:D :D
