Close Eric but no cigar........

A few points to make here so please bear with me.......

Firstly from SPC we have the PGI Premier 7's, 7 man, sup-air, 6 rounds max 36 teams per leg.
Then the Midlands Masters 5 man series, 8 rounds sup air, max 4 div of 9 teams= 36 teams
Finnally the King of the Hill novice series, 8 rounds, 5 man, ltd paint, sup-air. Max 18 teams.

Oh nearly forgot the 3rd Welsh Open as well.

We are just responding to what the players who have played our events for the last three years have asked for.

Who was it that said there was a danger of tournament overload, due to people jumping on the tourny band wagon???

2003 has been the best year for tourny ball in the UK for a very long time, 2004 has the potential to be better still, what motivates people to play?

Competition is good it focuses ones attention, co-operation is even better we could achieve so much more collectively.
The UKPL is only the start..........

The players now have a choice to make.............

That is a big shame because many teams prefer 5 man and if you believe X-Ball is the future of the sport you have no way to practice 5 man in compettition.

I love 5 man but next year my team will have almost no 5 man tourneys to go to. We couldnt really enter KOTH now could we

dude midlands masters runs king of the hill along side it. there's 36 five man team and 18 novice teams. you can still play 5 man in a non novice event....

Steve - I can virtually guarantee there will be SOMETHING in the South East next year. Apart from the various people who have spoken to me about helping them, I have heard of at least a couple of others who are either already planning to do something, or have said they will step into the breach to fill any gap if nothing else gets done.

The problem will be team's wont have the same line up.

You might play "team a" in a M/M event, and because some players have money or family issues, the same team entered in a Series 2004 event will be made up of other players.

Happened this year. And will only get worse.

Teams will find it harder this next year, than ever before.

The main problem we have had for next season is that we committed to both the PGI Central 7's and the P.A League - then when the dates were announced they fell on the same weekend each month.

We have always backed the philosophy of the Paintball Association - in developing paintball into a more mainstream sport encouraging local backing and promotion through representing an area - rather than a group of mates. We see this as the way forward for the sport in the long term.

I do, totally agree, that the way the system is set up at present with two main leagues and a number of series running - the U.K scene and quality of competition will suffer - as no team will be able to truly call themselves the best.

I think that what we need is an event each year which brings together the very best U.K teams - Novice, Am and Pro - without any European or U.S teams - so we can truly get an idea of where we all stand in the U.K.

But with all the politics between the different organisers, sponsors and teams - I know this is just a pipe dream !!!

Or is it ??

Rich;)
