Tournament Player vs Rec Player Challenge

Who else dudes?

Ol' TJ here just loves to play - from The Cup to big games to walk-on to whatever, I do it all, week in, week out, spreading the gospel around our fair land.

The King is dead, long live King TJ!

BTW ever wondered why all the good players in the world come from the US? Me too, so I have investigated this phenomenon and found out why...check issue 152 to see why there are no good Euroballers.

Peace,

TJ

who is the Best

If we go far enough back in history, we should see some well known players who have enough woods and early paintball experience to qualify as long-game players. I think Dave Youngblood, Bob Long and Renick Miller may qualify. Unfortunately, either they're no longer playing at their peak, or it has been so long from the long games that they couldn't play them well now if the title was on the line.

If we came far enough into the present to spot our latest hot dogs (Lang, Nielsen), it's unlikely we'll find someone who has much experience with long games / big games / scenarios.

There are some dual players: Twilight Zone's members for instance, but are they consistently in the finals?

If you noticed how I've been wording my comments, I've tended to name well-known players and then indicate they may not qualify for the Best. Let me propose this: how do you become a pro', or a winner? Is every single "amazing" play made only by the top pro's every game?

I've never bought the malarky that all the best players gravitate to the NPPL or gravitate to the Millenium series - I know of at least one truly wild player who would put that to rest, and he just refs and is working in a day care.

If you see where I'm going, my thought is the Best player in the world ... is hidden from us. Every team should want him or her, and yet have no means to find them.

Maybe the best is someone who posts on forums, or plays in your backyard. Imagine the team that would result if we collected all of our "bests" and put them together with a decent kit...

Unstoppable.

No, Mr. Sensitive, I meant nice plug for the magazine. Oh yeah, and by the way...ECKH! TJ, the forum is no place for your horn. I can't even find a smilie that adequately represents my feelings right now. Here TJ, I'll give ya' one of these :(   ...If you go left to right really fast, it looks like he's pukin'...kinda'. Try squinting when you do it also.

Yeah TJ, something I wish I would've tried, but I'm sure I never will.:)
Oh yeah, we got off track of the thread a bit. Problem, I maintain that there's nobody to fill our spot, oh, except TJ, I guess. This is starting to intertwine with the World's Best thread, but I must say that if our best player is hidden, then we have to be talking potential. Otherwise, he/she won't be fitting our own definition. Am I right, or wrong? We said that this person must also be a heavy hitter as far as tourneys are concerned, so this would have to be someone we see at the big-time tourneys. Tell me if I've got it askew.
