it is all about how the marker feels to YOU. at the end of it all you pull the trigger a ball flies out the business end of it.

its like comparing a Fiesta to a ferrari, they both get you from a-b, they both will have the same basic function, but you always get what you pay for.........

I personally shoot an Ego at the minute, have owned a timmy, a couple of angels, eblades,a proto, an Ion, another ego and other ones i am sure i forgot about. I like the Ego because it feels comfortable for me. I also like the angels.

go down to a tourney and ask random people if you can shoot their marker over a chrono, most will be more than happy to let you.

Angels seem to freefall on the used market, something like a speed 05 should be about £200 and £250/£300 will get you a speed 06, well good value! For the next setp these would be ideal, they rip if setup well and if you don't fcuk about with them won't need any more than routine lube and possibly the occassional O ring replaced. You will find them a bit more heavy than an Ion, I lent my 05 out at the weekend and that was the only negative comment I had when the guys compared it to their Ions! If your a hyperactive frontman and want to dive over the snake in every game then maybe an Ego is for you, if not you'll slay plenty on egomaniacs with an Angel.

Oh, only thing is they run on a Low Pressure air supply so you'll need to change your bottle or preset (or get an adjustable reg).

As Dusty said, its how a marker feels in your hands .I have shot Ego's , yes there good, but would prefer Angels . All down to personal preference.
Realistically its hard to get a feel of a marker from just shooting a hopper full over a chrono, you would need to play a game or 2 to get the real driving experience.
Back to topic,
With PaulC asking the question i assume you either have cash or looking to get a higher end marker very soon.
With an ION you have to take it completely apart to clean and lube. If you get a bit heavy handed, theres a chance you may break internals.
With Ego's and angels maintenance is minimal. A lot less hassle , but apart from that not really any difference in performance. Any marker can shoot great once setup right.

So I recently got back into the sport and have just been playing rec-ball once a month with an Ion….and really enjoying it.
But now I’m starting to eye up Ego’s and Angles and let’s be frank they ain’t cheap… So my question is: Does the performance of these markers really justify the cost and are they expensive to maintain? Is an Ego really at 5 times the cost of the ion 5 times better ….
Plus it still looks like if I buy one of these wage eaters you still need to upgrade the normal things like barrels ….
Any comments welcome?

Regards,

Paul

Yes i'm looking to buy a top end marker soonish...
Have got it down to three I think, Favorite looks like the Ego, but is most expensive ( wondering if they are about to drop price of the 06). 2nd Angel G7 fly, see its down to £600 at just paintball looks a bargin, just not sure about the battery car charger and feed neck. 3rd the DM6 or even PM06..just not not if these two can compete with the speed of the first 2??

I would recommend you go out and try these markers first at a walkon or go down to a tourney day. Im sure there are good people willing to help you out.
I was very interested in buying a Ego at 1 point, but after shooting 1 , it changed my mind. No disrespect to those Ego owners, but i just did,nt get the feel of these markers like i do with my G7 Fly. But that was entirely down to personal preference, not the team i play in nor the manufacturer that supports my team.

If your not in a hurry, there are other options like the new marker planet is about to release and just round the corner is the new Angel One.
With the G7 Fly, 1 full charge last approx. 150K shots. I rarely charge it. Playing in a middle of a walkon, my battery died on me, stuck it on charge for 15 mins, and had enough charge for over 2 cases of paint.
Yes the stock feedneck on the G7 Fly is not that great, but theres plenty of nice after market 1's out there.

Try before you buy.

You will not find an Angel Speed06, G7 or G7 Fly for sale new in the UK. They have bin out of production for a long time now.

But you can get the new Angel One for around £700 in a couple of weeks. Just give LiPs a bell.
