Mr. Idiot

Apologies. Misinterpretation is a knack of mine.

Although only a novice team, AFGM are taking a leaf out of the AM/Pro book by training in the same style, i.e. weekly training for technique rather than just playing games, and then putting that training into practise at tournaments. It has seriously improved our individual playing skills. Any team that does not practise technique constantly should consider doing it.

We still have a long way to go to start making Millenium finals, which is our aim, but we know we are heading in the right direction thanks to the efforts of Mark and Nick.

Maybe someone could post or point out a good training regime? People may pick up on gaps in their own training style. It can't hurt to consider and review your own training style.

Again, Mark and Nick, big thanks for the help on the run up to Campaign.

P.S. Nick, who own's Kenny's bird? I've lost track!

Shuck,
All you need to do is to remove the fitting from your exsisting Max-flow reg and replace it with the fitting in the new one. If you have any problems give me a call at SP Europe.

Coran,
Our pleasure buddy! Watching you guys rip teams apart at Campaign made it all worth while, just looking forward to training every week again, as soon as we get daylight back again :D

U.K teams in Europe

I know the old lines about practise and all that keep being used as to why UK teams can't seem to win in Europe but i sincerely believe that that is the way to go.
Having practised with Nick and Mark T of the Rushers you can see that with practise and experience the skills begin to develop.
Having only just started playing Mark's advice to me was

" Go and play... Make the moves..... get shot to **** and then learn from the experience"
(Course he may just be saying that cus he likes watching me roling around in pain but the general idea seems sound enough!)

Anyway we at AFGM feel that training and more training is the way to go. Hopefully with being trained by the "ambassadors" of paintball should help a bit

First off, Thanks to Mark (and the rest of the Rushers) for the props and help they have given Thunder this year.

Next year the squad will be at a minimum of 4, possibly 5 Millennium events. While we did really well at Toulouse, we did it through training, and a change in attitude to realise you aren't as good as you think you are (quite hard for most paintballers!!!!). Unfortunately at Campaign we just had one of the those tourneys were everything goes worng and the harder you try the worse it gets

Next year Thunder will be up there, we hope to make our 'mamas proud :D

If any teams are commited to training then plase give me a shout at beaker@teamthunder.co.uk to try and arrange something.

Milhouse and all

I do find some pleasure in seeing you getting shot up my friend - but the principal is sound and has been discussed many times before in PGI etc.

Teams that sit in bunkers and shoot their guns learn NOTHING.

Teams that commit to NOT winning for a while - playing harder tournaments and teams and still making moves - these profit in the long run. They make mistakes BUT LEARN.

After a while the mistakes become fewer, the scalps become bigger and the success comes.

I think that too many of our domestic teams have spent too long 'hiding' in small domestic tournaments avoiding playing even our own pro teams. Without this experience they have stagnated and are found wanting when it comes to playing the europeans.

The Rushers try and always play home tournaments in the 'pro' bracket. Win or lose the paintball is tougher, gives great experience and prepares the team for the hard games to come in the Millennium.

As for passing on this experience to other teams - that responsibility would be a pleasure - we would love to help others and have done - Few Good Men and even Shockwave have benefitted from our training regimes.

We follow the principal that technique is to be trained hard, repetition of movement etc in preparation for what we all do in the game.

We then play fewer tournaments at home and use these to gel the team only - playing is not necessarily training!!

How many players/teams are prepared to commit to a regime that is sometimes boring and hardly exciting???

We'll see!!!

We have the winter to get a few more teams up there!!!!

Thanks Kitch

The Rushers are now reaping the benefit of alot of hard work over a period of a number of years.

Before I joined the team the rest of the guys basically took a year out of tournaments just to practice - TECHNIQUE.

Snapping, accuracy, tightness etc. All done time and again, repetition, repetition, repetition. Sports men call it 'muscle memory. When you go through an action - you do it without thinking it abou it because you have trained yourself to do it - and well.

The team wants to get better and better. The team wants to see other Brit teams do the same. Brit paintball needs new blood. There is alot of old school still around, some good, some not so. Mix that with some new blood, train and kick some ass.

Commitment!!!

Who wants it???

Mark

See you in Nottingham mate??
