from what i understand there is no such thing as illegal firing modes according to UK law. paintball guns are classed as toys (this does not mean they are, and you should never use them anywhere other than a paintball site.). full auto is just banned by tourney's and sites because it can be dangerous and can be unfair to players who don't have it. you would be fine with the e grip as long as you set it to semi.

the response trigger from what i understand basically uses excess gas to push the trigger forward after you have pulled it. this enables you to shoot faster because you aren't waiting as long for the trigger to be reset.

the best thing to do would be to call your local walk on site and find out what their rules regarding e grips and response triggers are.

the response trigger uses waste gas to push the trigger forward, allowing it to reset quicker, thus allowing you to fire faster.

the advantage on the response trigger is that it can be adjusted to vary its "bounciness". if set correctly , it will allow you to more-or-less walk the trigger two figgered like an electro marker - all be it a bit more slowly. if set "incorrectly" the pressure of your finger, coupled with the forward push on the trigger, can simulate full auto, with the trigger pretty much bouncing back and forth itself.

[this is all simplified form the actual technical goins on, but describes the effects!]

in my opinion the e-grip is far superior to the response trigger. it allows you to select the firemode, so ther eis no need to go anywhere near auto or burst modes. it gives a ramping mode which increases your rate of fire to higher than your actual physical trigger pulls - this is allowed at most sites - but if not simply change fire modes back to semi - simple!

if your response trigger is too bouncy you may get pulled at some sites for ramping/auto when its not allowed - then you have to faff around adjusting it to reduce the effect.

go with the egrip if you get an A5. or consider the X7 if you want a mech marker - moer or less an A5, but more military looking, if that's your thing.

the sp8 is great straight out the box. i use mine for running around the woods, if/when the ego6 doesn't get to play!

Awesome info guys, thats exactly what i wanted to know :)

It seems unanimous that the E-Grip is the way to go, if i do decide on getting the A-5 i'll get the E-Grip aswell, as like you guys said, if i do fall foul of the rules/marshals, i can just switch modes.

I'll take your advice about the SP8 and X7 aswell, and give all those gun a good look before making my final desision.

As luck would have it im going to play paintball at the Yorkshire Paintball Center tomorrow sat/23, i'll do as you guys said and speak to the marshals about that sites rules about the markers, hopefully their reasonably flexible.

Thx guys :) much appreciated

the other thing worth mentioning in the e-grip vs response debate, is that the A5/X7 egrips are complete trigger grips.

You can interchange between the original mechanical A5/X7 trigger and the e-grip trigger in about 1 minute, just de-gas remove the two push pins and the screw, swap grips and replace the pins and screw.

If for some reason your e-grip fails [dead battery] or you can't use it because of site rules, then just put the mechnical grip back on and you are good to go. Its very easy to switch between purely mechanical and e-grip as you don't need to take the marker apart, just swap the grips.
