24-inch long barrel??

Why wud u want a barrel that looooonggg?? I wonder how difficult it will be to manoeuvre with that kinda overall length of yer marker

yup, flatline is the ONLY barrel that increases range. Velocity controls range, so a ball leaving a barrel at 300 fps travels the same range from a 10" or a 28" barrel, only difference is an extra 18" of turbulence and distortion..... optimum barrel is 12"to 14"
Everyone gets confused thinking it's the same as a real gun..... longer barrel equates to greater range, thing is, longer barrel actualy equates to greater velocity (as it's using a greater charge)......... a marker is limited in velocity, so the best barrel is the one that accelerates to 300fps most efficiently...... you can't legally let it go any faster, so anything over 14" is just wasting gas.

Flatline is a clever shape and puts backspin on the ball....... just like those "hop up" airsoft guns...... ball kicks up a bit and hangs in the air longer........ greater range but the trajectory suffers. My advice..... stick with a 12" to 14" barrel and point it up slightly to make it go further :) (learn to lob)

Yeah...it's actually the same principle as real guns...its a balance of barrel length, and the size of charge used (with any propellant)...a given charge, will accelerate, a projectile up the barrel, only as long, as the charge is greater than the friction effect of the bullet, in the barrel...after that the projectile will slow down....
With markers...we want as much efficiency as possible, as out projectiles, arent self contained, as firearms rounds are. You can up the charge, to a certain degree, in a rifle round, for example, to achieve higher velocity...but if you do that with a marker, you lose efficiency, as you use more gas and can affect accuracy, if you slap the ball too hard!

I think AGD said, that the length of barrel required, to accelerate a ball, is around 6/7 inches..after that...a short section, of wider "free air" barrel, is ok, to help stabilise the ball...but too much, and it all goes pear shaped.
