Thanks Bod, since its coming from round the outside of the fill nipple rather than through the fill nipple can I ignore the oring (don't have a spare).

As a rule i always push the pin out and give it a bit of a clean while i've got the thing in my hands and a bit of tissue twisted to clean the seat of the fill niple on the inside, but if it's not leaking from the oring i'd leave it as it is.
first thing to try is that it is already tight enough...if you can nip it up a quarter turn or two, that may well cure it
otherwise yeah, avoid thread lock, remove, clean and replace, using fresh ptfe tape ( havent used the liquid stuff but it does sound like a good idea )
