Putting it like that, if you plan it right £220 could probably cover hotel AND travel to an event in mainland Europe...

220?! Travelodge Basildon was 50 a night last I looked. I'm at the Holiday Inn across the parking lot from the Travelodge, same place I was last year, it's like 90 a night and quite nice. Impact and all the GI guys were there last year (see video of Fireworks display). So were the Nexus 2 guys.
I was happy with Salou, not with the goat rodeo of the cops and flying though, and the bathrooms were in weird places from the field.

I've just looked on booking.com and I can get a premier in for !160 for 2 nights, but it's a premier inn.220?! Travelodge Basildon was 50 a night last I looked. Holiday inn is 102 per night and I stayed there with the infamous boys a couple of years ago , but I do like my comfort. I booked the best western ivy hill. I may cancel it though as I've just bought a massive caravanette thing for me and the dogs to go to the beach. it sleeps 8 so I may set up on the thursday and do b and B for £20 a night
The reason I like the VIP areas is they do free coffee and good coffee at that, but sadly not in basildon.

No getting away from it .With the uptake of the CPPS ,mills participation has fallen in GB.Last year Ainsley was asked and agreed to move round 3 away from Campaign .The numbers have not returned and dropping the British leg would be a popular move for mainland Europe ,without upsetting the locals .M500 ,failing it's first test .However anyone who ever thought 5 boxes of tournie paint would be the clincher for mills participation must have been growing and smoking something fragrant !
I'd hardly call 11 extra German teams from Barcelona to Bitburg... "Packing it out"
Basildon is actually the most expensive event for us as a Team.... but that's usually because its Ainsleys Birthday and he drinks TGI Fridays dry of Mojitos
Last year Bitburg was the only event to sell out, and they sold out fast. This year Barca was great though, so hopefully that shows how many more diverse teams will show up. Seeing a lot from eastern Europe now.
Basildon if you can avoid the ****tastic mark ups for hotels is nice. It's dead simple for me to fly into London City and drive over. We have some folks who camp, so we all get together for burgers and beers at the tents right next to the fields. It's good fun.
If there's a huge turn up of UK teams to Basildon, not sure they would move it next year away from the UK. It'd be hard pressed to be held on the continent, just due to the weather.
Plus it's normally held around the 4th of July, and there is nothing more American than eating burgers, drinking beer, watching fireworks...and shooting British people.

I seem to remember watching what looked like a big public firework display last year, then finding out it all came off Impacts balcony!
I know we are still about 6 weeks out.But apart from the locked teams ,there is a grand total of 2 GB teams .
