Lucky you, I can remember a team mate chopping his up, going out in the first game of the day (a 5 man @ Eurosplat, circa '91 IIRC?) and getting a tooth blown down his throat. And there were plenty of other incidents along those lines from that period that I personally witnessed (although Rafe's wearing of those neoprene cycle masks was damn cool looking and I'll admit to trying it out for a few games before I went back to my Vents Predators w/ the neck protector over the facemask).Brother, we were all doing that in the 90's - Robbo, Bob Long, Dave Youngblood, Ron Kilbourne, Marty Bush......the list is long and distinguished.
Even I did it, and strangely enough I never got shot in the mouth.
Better communication be damned, I'll keep my dental bills to a minimum thanks. Oh and good luck if anyone gets hurt - chopping/ditching the plate will void the insurance of the site/event to the best of my knowledge.
"Revolutionary lightweight" brands aside , I can count on one hand the number of incidences at events I've attended in the UK, Europe and beyond where a bottle/reg combo has failed in the last 6/7 years, so whilst there is a risk, I'm inclined to believe that it is a manageable one given the strength of the bottles and fact that the lighter constructed rail/ASA is much more likely to break first in a bad dive or similar.Anyhoo, we all run around with high pressure air tanks strapped to our guns, which we dive on, drop, throw, and even fill them ourselves. Foolhardy?
