It is really touching how cowed by authority all you subjects of the crown sound. Maybe you should revolt, declare indepenence from the kingdom? "Manchester will no longer be subject to oppression!" You might need a more stirring slogan, but you get the idea. It is just the thing to ward off that winter ennui.
Shadow, your idea sounds pretty good. Consider clearing some of the lower hanging branches to allow people to arc shots through the field. Alternately, allowing the lower branches to remain can set up a situation where you can see one another, but can't hit one another. Spots to move to should be closer together at the middle of the field, and farther apart at the ends. Also, if you want to encourage movement, make the back bunkers smaller and something that blocks visibility or shooting lanes toward the middle.
