The Paintball Association Rules (Jerseys)

Russell Smith

The Paintball Association
After looking at the playing tops in use at the moment we have decided that the PA rules as written will be inforced to include all playing tops.
The rule is as follows:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Playing Jersey

The playing jersey must be long sleeved and of a material or design that will not give the player an unfair advantage by decreasing the chance of a ball bursting should it impact on any area covered by the playing jersey. Playing jerseys cannot be worn loose and must be either tucked into to the lower garments or secured with a belt or pack.

Prohibited garments include but are not exclusively limited to:

Shirts or tops manufactured from plastic, wax cotton or leather materials.
Sweatshirts
Any kind of padded or quilted clothing.
Heavy-duty materials such as combat jackets.

Note 4: It is recognised that some playing jerseys have additional padding in strategic places for elbow and forearm protection. These jerseys are legal however no secondary level of protection may be added in these particular areas such as elbow guards worn either under or over the jersey or undershirts with similar padding in the same areas.

Under-shirts

A single, long sleeved second layer is permitted as long as it does not contravene the same regulations & descriptions as laid down for playing jerseys.

Note 5: If the under-shirt comprises padding for additional protection then the playing jersey must not incorporate similar protective padding in the same areas. Similarly no additional protection may be added such as elbow guards worn either or under the shirt in these areas.

Arm & Elbow Pads

One set of forearm and elbow protection may be worn but is not compulsory. Additional protection may not be worn in conjunction with playing jerseys that are already padded in these areas.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have decided that ANY top that is contains more than one layer cannot be used with OTHER protection (elbow pads).
This includes but is not limited to tops manufactured by Empire, Hangar 18 and Dye.
This Rule will be inforced as above from the next event.
All events that use the PA rules will be informed.

So according to this statement I can have a long sleeved undershirt but not a short sleeved undershirt. Perhaps someone could enlighten me as to the reason behind this, or am I reading the statement wrong and a long, short or no sleeved undershirt would be acceptible.

i assume girlies are also aloud chest protection and a t-shirt?

Brian,

Indeed your good lady and all other females who play are advised to use chest protection in addition to playing top and undershirt.
The chest protection may not be the sort that produces an unfair advantage during the game.
And it may like all other items be checked but in this case only by a nominated Female staff member:( .
