THe PA Cup - false claims?

In reference to an earlier post in a now closed thread I would like to clarify something...

The original quote was:

asked for your opinion Robbo, regarding the PA cup, as I respect it. The PA cup was billed as 'finding the best team in the country' that is why I thought it was pertinent to this thread.
Can I just say that the organisers of the PA Cup, Gillie and myself in particular NEVER once billed this event as "finding the best team in the UK". The concept of the PA Cup (here we go again) was to run a national competition based on teams representing their town or city. It WAS billed as an event to try and get paintball recognised by the world outside of our reclusive little community in this country and to try and bring some recognisable order to something which we consider a sport but most outside it still look on as something to do on a stag weekend or for a birthday party.

As has already discussed in another thread, it was a national competition and open to everyone. No one was excluded, it wasn’t limited by some perceived level of skill or ranking such as “Novice”, “Amateur” or “Pro”. It wasn’t restricted to teams that have attained a score based on events that they may have played if they could be bothered or could afford to or wangled their way into a finals based on their “merits” whatever the hell those might be. It was a fully open, completely self-seeding event with competeing teams from all over the country and as such the winners are quite entitled to call themselves National Champions.

Does that make them the best team in the country? As Pete Robinson said:

The PA Cup just produced the best team, in this case Manchester, out of the teams there, that is all !
and I fully agree. The event was won by the best team who turned up on the weekend. Which in truth is all you can say of any event and the team that wins it.

Please, please, please do not start attaching claims to the PA Cup or any other PA events that are inaccurate or misleading. Apart from the fact I personally find it annoying, things said on bulletin boards have a nasty habit of turning into “pseudo-facts” that are potentially harmful and damaging.

Cheers

nobody can take away the succes of the PA CUP in my eyes and i do beleive this has also been reflected in many posts on these forums, with many ballers sharing the same opinions....

I've spoken to the person who posted that...he didn't mean it the way it came across and he has suffered the traditional punishment of EL Mariachi.
He is currently staked out on our practice field with a handfull of acorns in his mouth and his mask on, the squirrels are congregating and there is only one way to get to those acorns.

A squirrel up the bum is for life, not just Christmas.

My only hope is that the PA is a full series next year......... that's the future of paintball in the UK.

Grrrr

Too Spicy For Ya?!
I am sure Hatts is getting sick of all the praise, and i may have said this in a prevoius thread but...

The PA cup was a SUPERB event and well worth playing next year! I am sure Hatts will arrange it for a "free" weekend as he did this year.

Any one who is not thinking of playing this event next year should have his/her head examined!

Hatts when can we book in for next year? The York Preds will be there!:D

Go York!
