In reference to an earlier post in a now closed thread I would like to clarify something...
The original quote was:
As has already discussed in another thread, it was a national competition and open to everyone. No one was excluded, it wasn’t limited by some perceived level of skill or ranking such as “Novice”, “Amateur” or “Pro”. It wasn’t restricted to teams that have attained a score based on events that they may have played if they could be bothered or could afford to or wangled their way into a finals based on their “merits” whatever the hell those might be. It was a fully open, completely self-seeding event with competeing teams from all over the country and as such the winners are quite entitled to call themselves National Champions.
Does that make them the best team in the country? As Pete Robinson said:
Please, please, please do not start attaching claims to the PA Cup or any other PA events that are inaccurate or misleading. Apart from the fact I personally find it annoying, things said on bulletin boards have a nasty habit of turning into “pseudo-facts” that are potentially harmful and damaging.
Cheers

Can I just say that the organisers of the PA Cup, Gillie and myself in particular NEVER once billed this event as "finding the best team in the UK". The concept of the PA Cup (here we go again) was to run a national competition based on teams representing their town or city. It WAS billed as an event to try and get paintball recognised by the world outside of our reclusive little community in this country and to try and bring some recognisable order to something which we consider a sport but most outside it still look on as something to do on a stag weekend or for a birthday party.asked for your opinion Robbo, regarding the PA cup, as I respect it. The PA cup was billed as 'finding the best team in the country' that is why I thought it was pertinent to this thread.

and I fully agree. The event was won by the best team who turned up on the weekend. Which in truth is all you can say of any event and the team that wins it.The PA Cup just produced the best team, in this case Manchester, out of the teams there, that is all !
