The next big thing ...

What do you all see as the next big thing in paintball development? first it was the pump handle then is was c/a then it was semi auto, then it was compressed air then it was electronics. Am I leaving anything out?

I was thinking that paintballs are only going to get more consistant. and paintball guns are also going to get more consistant. To the point where every paintball goes to the exact same spot along it's trajectory. But I was talking to a friend of mine about how great that would be, but then he was saying, part of the fun of paintball is the inconsistancys. It wouldn't be nearly as much fun if every paintball went exactly where you wanted it to goand every paintball broke on impact and never in you gun. Stuff like that.

What do you guys think of that? Is part of the fun of paintball the inconsistancys?

Yes you forget something!!! The rev or power series 2000 as it was first called Changed the game more then Hpa did. Not that many guns could take full advantage of it. I believe that mags and cockers would have died out if not for them. (ok thats a lie cockers will live forever)

I think the next big step in PB will have to do with the players. No longer will we be able to Play competativly and get winded climbing a flight of stairs. I think we will see more people training to improve there game now that our equipment can out pase us.

And No, I would not miss chopped balls and barrle brakes. But for the rest of it,ya. If paintballs had the same balistic stability that a bullet did our beloved speedball would turn into a snipers paridise and NOBODY WANTS THAT.

Even in X-Ball there is a place for big out of shape guys... it's called the back. When you break it down, it's just 5-man paintball. I played a similar format a couple years ago (USPL) and it's just paintball. Back guys still have their short little trots to bunkers and the front guys still have to haul buns to get to their bunkers. Front guys would have to be in better shape if they play the whole time but the back guys? Not really.

WOW!! That X-Ball stuff is almost certainly going to be a huge step in the right direction for the future of paintball to be more spectator friendly and easily televised. It will still be difficults to focus on the good action, but at least replays of the good stuff could be continually shown as they happen. The thing is, it would be easy to display lots of scores and stats of whats happening whilst having the on-screen chrono speeds etc.

I think that another 'next' big thing (well, maybe not NEXT, but certainly in the near future, well maybe not NEAR, but the future! :D ) will be that of some kind of HUD (Heads Up Display) inside the masks. These could be connected wirelessly to your gun and feed you information about schematics or give diagnostics as your playing. Giving you info about how many balls its recieved and when you need to reload etc.
One of the reasons why I mention this is that I read somewhere something about an HUD adapter or similar on the new Angel IR3. I wait in great anticipation of what will be brought to us next!!

- Things are just getting started!:D

Yeah, I was thinking that soon 'guns will be required to have some sort of built in crony that if the 'gun fired a single shot over 310 fps (after the cronoing procedures) it would shut off. I know noone would want this in their 'gun, but if EVERY one had one, and each one had to be activated by the Judge before each game, it could be an effective way to keep people from shooting hot.

He he - yeah! You could swing your gun around the side of your bunker to try and reveal positions on the opposing team's players. Then snap shoot to their exact positions. - Hey it may seem a bit far fetched, but the US military already have the technology and have implemented it on a certain type of gun. (I've seen it on TV dudes!:D )

It may make some people feel a bit uncomfortable due to the relationship to real highly advanced weaponry that is used for war situations - but it's still awesome technology. I reckon if we're able to stick with ball counts and chrono speeds for now it's enough to get started.:D

lol

right and then we can also have a feater where theres a camera on the paintball so we can see where its going as its traviling? lol that would be a waste cause it would me like $500 a paintball and it would only be able to be used onced =/
