The meaning of life

depends on what you mean by the "meaning".
why are we here? how are we here? what do we do now we are here?

from the basic biological perspective, we are here to reproduce and continue the species.

or then again the mice put us here as part of the computer we call "earth" to calculate the answer to that question. the inital answer being 42 - but later that was discovered to be inaccurate.
too slow bedlam

I'm not so sure the preceding posts could be described as a meaningful discussion especially when I see the likes of a talentless piece of make-up called cheryl cole mentioned.
And so, can we try and answer JWarren's initial post please coz this forum isn't designed to play host to this kinda trivial cr@p and the question is actually a profound one.

Thanks guys !

There are two possibilities as I see it, we are the product of evolution, like every other living species or.......we have been put here for a reason by him upstairs.

At this point, religion obviously jumps up in front of us and smashes us in the face with an eclectic array of doctrines, all testifying to be the one true religion with the one true message.

With so many religions on offer, ya pays ya money, ya takes ya choice.

As for me?
I'm an agnostic, I believe in a creator, but as of yet, I don't see him having anything to do with us or figure-heading any particular religion.

After all, God must be a pretty smart entity and if he had meant us to follow his religion, then I doubt he woulda allowed such a confusing assortment of religions for us to choose from ... it seems quite plausible that any man might have a very real problem in determining which one is the true religion as is evident by the demographic sweep we encounter when looking at each and every religion.

I would truly love to witness a god if only to try and follow his religion because surety in that department would sort most of us out I am sure.

There is just too much doubt for me, and far too many unthinking idiots spouting this religion and that, and having about as much sense as a pickled onion.

And so, the meaning of life for me?

We evolved, we live, we die.

As for meaning?????

We could ask exactly the same question relating to a shrimp.

And this is one occasion when I sincerely hope I am wrong ..... and if God is watching this thread, I'll make you a platinum member for life if you wanna write a post ..... pretty please !

PS God, could you also please arrange for Arsenal to lose all of their league and cup games for the rest of the season, cheers mate.

haha robbo, even as a liverpool suporter i doubt that arsenal will lose ALL their games. if god is real he's not that powerfull.
seriously though i've always thought along the same lines, apart from god possibly being a force instead of a being if you get what i mean
