i think daryl in walking dead has it right with crossbow or bow and arrow as it uses re usable ammo and arrows can be crafted fairly easily (well easier than making bullets)

You'd be knackered in the UK in case of zombies as it's near impossible to get hold of proper weapons and apparently zombie preparation isn't good enough reason when applying for an FAC! Madness!

Would .22 LR work for undead dispatch?, nice shot through an eye may work.
