World Paintball League

Las Vegas venue, televised 3 man event I believe. Teams like Dynasty, N Dogs and others compete. Picture the fan fare around WWF Wrestiling and you get the idea of what they have tried to do with the 3 man. More a spectacle than anything else

Its another of these World leagues that only contain North American teams:rolleyes: ;)

No one is claiming that the WPL means anything though. Plus, that was Dynasty's B team that did manage to take 2nd on the next day.

The NXL can claim talent superiority when spots can no longer be bought outright by any team with the funds: like Legacy. Plus, neither Trauma nor the Russians made the semi-pro cut at Commander's Cup, so who says that years of only playing X-Ball translates to 7-Man skills.

How does being able to buy spots with money have anything to do with talent superiority? Virtually every major US Pro sport allows spots to be bought and sold, whether it's passing existing franchises from one team to another or selling expansion franchises. If anything, putting money into having a spot is an incentive for team owners to make sure they have the best talent possible.

NXL can claim talent superiority when they have the best talent. Which would be now. Legacy doesn't make NXL any less of the most talented league any more than the Clippers detract from the NBA.

Dynasty has been walloping people in 7-man for years and just got beat up pretty bad at Texas. Is it because NPPL teams arn't as talented? Is it because cheating doesn't work as well in the NXL? Is it because in XBall, the best team always wins, but in 7-man a fluke can easily send the better team out of the event?

Besides, it's not like the NPPL promotion/relegation system has prevented less-than-stellar teams from playing pro there either. Somebody has to lose.

I don't think Dynasty will win. The team does not seem to be jelling, and they are fighting each other over who gets Ollies spot on the first team. There are 4 or 5 hopefuls from the 2nd squad, and the competition is getting so fierce it is in danger of fracturing the team and removing the thing that made them great in the first place.
If Angel doesn't get the spot, I say there will be 2 or 3 other players leave.
There are players on Dynasty that won't accept that Angel has waitied long enough for this spot and think they can slide in there based on the amount of noise they make, rather than the talent they have. Ollies place was always going to be tricky to fill, and Angel has ALWAYS been under-rated, so who knows what will happen, but I say they won't win HB, not unless Alex can regain control of the disruptive elements he now finds himself dealing with. Its a different thing than bonding with your trusted friends. Now he has to deal with 'outsiders', and the teams ability to assimilate the new blood AND keep the gang together will be the key to their success this season.

I say XSV, but I think there will be 6 teams right up there at the top this year. I think Joy will do well too.

Nice to see New York NRG and Chicago have a fan though - and who picked Avalanche?

OK, so I expect Nexus to come third (at least) in order to fulfill the predictions of their adoring (and demanding) fans.

I will be cheering for you though, as usual.

ps. I don't mean cheering as in 'cheer-leading'. I don't find the gear is revealing enough for me. Way too restrictive. Instead I will wear the outfit I sported on Springer. And before anyone says anything to me at the event - leopard print was around b4 Joy Division, I am not part of their entourage.....
