The Fall And Rise Of The Roman Empire!

RISE of the Roman Empire

Well it was the rise wasn't it...because we won...I told those barbarians that by the end of the day I'd have their children working down the mines and their fairest maidens attending to me as I bathed...and you know for a bunch of hairy arsed, "missing link", throwbacks living in mud huts with their pigs and other assorted live stock, they actually do have some pretty tasty maidens :D

Just thought I'd put my two-penneth in as the organiser and co-writer of SouthPark the Scenario, Southpark 2 - Kenny's Revenge (to give it its full title) and the upcoming "Staar Warrs" - I had an absolutely brilliant time on Sunday. These kind of events ARE different from walk on days, but to be fair they're not everyone's cup of tea.

The boys & girls at Premier and the DELTA squad who ran and organised the day put in a huge amount of time, effort, blood, sweat and tears (and in Bongo's case some other unusual and probably best left unidentified secretions) to make this event go smoothly. I've played scenario games both in the UK and in the States and the atmosphere last Sunday was brilliant. One of the most fun days I've had for a long time.

So no it was nothing like Kenny's or Drug Wars but it wasn't ever designed to be and nor was it trying to compete with them. It was simply another paintball event designed to cater for a growing market. To be honest, those who didn't go really missed out on a great day

Thanks again guys and I will most certainly be there for the next one as I'll be at as many others as I can get to as well. Time (and Gillie) permitting :)

Can I just point out that the barbarians did in fact kick your Pompous Roman Asses, you just managed to steal more stuff ;)

That said, yes it was a great day! not least because I won a marker :D
These kind of things are not your normal paintball days, I can see why people prefer tourny ball for their regular fix, but I would get soo bored of tourny without a bit of this kind of fun event every now and again.

I'll be at the Staar Warrs and probably most of the other fun events I can get to.

Pompous?...

...wasn't that the place where all those people got buried in ash from a big volcano while they were on the job?

Gillie did actually comment that she found it amusing that the Barbarians controlled most of the territories while the Romans grabbed all the loot (Oh and the all the tribes standards...twice :) )

But see that's cos us refined and educated Roman types like shiny things and Barbarians just like grubbing about in the dirt :D

We surely would have conquered a vast amount more territory than we did but unfortunately our general developed a nasty habit of "fiddling while Rome was burning" (but you really do not want to see what he was fiddling with..eeeuurrgghh!!...did someone mention something about a horse in another thread?)

I play tourney once or twice a month now and I still get a big kick out of stuff like this...it's just a big bit of sillyness for the kid inside of all of us and I really think it helps paintball. Look at all those dedicated "I'll never play anything other than tourney-ball" players who came out for Kenny's and the NvS. No doubt there'll be quite a few at the SWAT big game and I know there's a quite a few turning out for Staar Warrs too...

(Oh and before I forget I wanted say a massive thanks to our "Legion of Doom" medic, 14yr old Jamie who ran his arse ragged all day and never lost our standard once...never got thank him properly at the end of the day..so thanks Jamie.)

FIDDLIN'?

HATTS OL' LOVE
I wasn't fiddlin' with anything. My medic couldn't keep up with me when I pushed in to enemy territory....anyway that's what I had you lot for.
My team was a well oiled fighting machine nicking as much stuff as possible and getting rid off the barbarians morale! all their standards, marvellous and one in the afternoon, wonderful!

still it was brilliant to see the romans beat off a barbarian attack by two of their visigoths! Walking forward taking no prisoners, with out a second thought for their safety the romans rolled forward, wonderful!

No Fiddling?

could have sworn it was you behind that bush with the...oh well never mind :D...must just have been a viscious rumour put about by Bongo the Barbarian...see they totally misunderstood our strategy...keep 'em busy while we nabbed all the loot...an inspired plan oh illustrious leader...see you in the senate :)

it was a really good day. i just knew that if the Romans won we would hear the heroic war tales for weeks to come from a certain leader.............wont say who.

as Bongo does not use the forums i am the only voice for the barbarian command, and i would like to say on behalf of Bongo and myself a big THANK YOU to the barbarian lads who did run around and follow Bongo and myself into 'risky' situations. if the winner was decided on spirit and hygine, we would have won! smelly Roman skirt wearers!!
