The other thing is, would this stuff be useful to a nasty terrorist if they were to go dig it out?
yes.....if they have the facilites available for processing it can be used to make depleted uranium armour penetrating rounds.
or as an additive to a conventional explosive to scatter radioactive waste.
it cannot however be used to make a "regular" nuclear device.
So maybe not such a great plan to bury it in a desert.
Do you know what the powers that be currently do with our nuclear waste?
some is reprocessed.
some is buried down a big hole.
some is dumped in deep sea trenches.
some is sitting in big warehouses while they decide what to do with it......
