I don’t normally look at links on Facebook or in emails because it’s normally a piece of self-indulgent crap and when I witness a lot of the thinking and opinions of some young people, it makes me wanna do one of two things, knock them into next week or send them to prison to be re-educated in how to respect other people and to learn some manners.
But that’s just old age talking maybes, I’m a generation away from a lot of the young and so I suppose it’s inevitable I will be unimpressed with a lot of the way things are now as was my dad was with me when I grew up.
I don’t watch a lot of TV, hardly any really; this is mainly due to these ‘reality’ programmes and I suppose the general insincerity with everyone, everyone just seems so false and half-way up their own ass, I just hate it and so I don’t watch it.
Now, the worst thing I hate more than anything though is ‘false crying’, we all see it when people are being interviewed or playing a part in a reality program; it all started in the US when for some reason, when people got in front of a camera they would start to look as though they were choking up and beginning to cry ….. let’s face it, a lot of programs over here have many instances of this insincere emotion … it’s as if these people think that crying will somehow validate whatever it is they are saying and also attract some form of emotional support like a plea to their mummy ..
If ever I see any footage that goes anywhere near this emotional clap-trap I switch it straight off and to be honest, the Americans seem glued to the idea they necessarily have to feign crying to put across their point when all it does is demean them.
If I ever felt like crying, the last place I’d do it is in front of a camera with millions watching, I would feel ashamed if people [other than my close family and close friends] saw me cry.
This is not some macho bullsh!t, it’s about dignity and self-respect.
And so why this post?
For some reason, I clicked on a link that was put up on someone’s Facebook page and without seeing any of it, to me, it looked like another example of some Yank blubbing their frikkin eyes out over sweet fuhk all …. And yet I still clicked on it … and as the video started to play, I was sorely tempted to click it off and get on with some work but I’m glad I didn’t.
I detest the notion of crocodile tears and feigning emotions to attract support but for some reason, this vid got to me and I really wish I could jump on a plane to the US and go help him sort a few problems out for him … I might be being fooled here, I hope I’m not; I might even be going soft in my old age but see what you think … it certainly done my brain in and left me cold and feeling helpless … I wish I could be his big brother for a few days and tidy up some of the sh!t in his life ….
