You are correct, but american franchises in a canadian National league is not unheard of.
There were american franchises in the CFL (canadian football league) for a while too.

Crystal Ball says...

Some pros do love X-ball, but the 5- and 10- man events are so crappy this year that by the second PSP there is not enough scratch to support X-ball. X-ball dies because of bad parents who didn't do enough for their baby*, by giving all the limited creative energies to X-ball and none to the part of the tournament that would have paid for it.

The rank and file players play the S7, pros drift back to the NPPL a few at a time until the end of the season, when the X-dream dies, a cool format goes kaput, and paintball in the US is improved anyway, because everyone had everything at stake.

And there are Canadian baseball teams, too. We're just waiting for the sensible Canadians to get fed up with the Francophile Quebec separatists and beg for statehood. Then it won't matter.
Until then the CFL has like, 7 teams, and half of them are the RoughRiders. :D

Gyro--when/if folks bail on the NXL it'll be teams, not players, but yeah, otherwise not an auspicious start which is really too bad.
Wonder what's happened to all the TV talk Robo was hearing from the PSP awhile ago? Did it just evaporate or is it still in the works?

J--good question related to yours is CAN the NPPL become massive and remain the kind of event we saw at HB?

HHmmmm interesting

However on reflection i can't see the NPPL trying to take on the millennium. So far the average player in Europe is satisifed as the the standard of tourney the Millenium run. Over in the states people are going to try the super 7's cus there so pissed off going to ****e tournies.(Or so i've heard cus i have no experience of PSP tournies first hand)
On the X ball front i think the Millenium board will run the series for the year.... see what it has done to them revenue wise.... compare loss/gain to American situation (i.e X ball has died over there) and then make the call to kill Euro X or carry on with it.
I mean some of the arguments in Europe have been that we need X ball to keep up skill wise with the yanks. If X ball dies over there then will the top euro teams even want to play a format where they arn't playing the same games as the top yank teams?

Just a few thoughts

Oh right, So Canada and the US are like the same country then? You all related then?
just like you and your welsh/scottish/irish relatives.

Because of the closeness of Canada and the USA, our cultures are very similar. In the old days, when Canadian teams could actually afford to compete with american teams, we used to whip them at hockey all the time. Just look at the olympics.

I bet a lot of americans don't even realise that there are a whole pile of teams in the NHL that are from Canada; a whole different country.

What would it matter if the russians played the NXL?
Although they're in the same class, skill wise, they don't belong the the 'american paintball brotherhood' and therefore don't really have a place in the league.

i seem to remeber reading i think in pgi when the millenium was starting that tournements of a certain size that had been running for two years would be considered for qualification to millenium status. i would expect this has changed with the promoters working closer than at the mills formation but it could certainly be interesting if the nppl did run a seperate tourney in europe with wdp as im sure a lot of teams would attend what with all the hype as opposed to one of the smaller mill events

Still can compete...Outta the 6 Canadien teams playing in NHL,4 are gonna make the playoffs..Not too bad considering the Ottawa Senators have the best record in the league and are BANKRUPT,and the 3 others have soem of the lowest payrolls in the league..The reason they cant compete is because the great players would rather make $10 million in the States than $10 mill in Canada cuz taxes are just a wee bit different up there and our dollar goes a little bit further;)

Is it even worth it for the Russkies to fly half way across the country to compete..Especially if X-ball unfolds like they expect it to and teams are playing matches in thier respective cities next year, you think anybody out here is flying to Russia maybe 1 to 2 times a year just to play 1 match??
