Just the results that followed the Oslo accords. No one has to tell me what I can see with my own eyes. All you gotta do is see who benefited the most (Yasser) and who benefited the least (Israel) after Oslo.

One point that is rarely made when people complain that Yasser is not doing enough to contain the extremists is that he fears them so much. If the Palestinian Authority carried out the crackdown Israel constantly demands then there would likely be suicide bombers hitting PLO sites pretty quick
While I'll admit that the terror groups would eventually turn on Yasser if he honestly tried to dismantle them, the fact that not one attempt has occured says much, especially when he signed the Oslo accords.

Despite all her military might and first-class Intelligence apparatus Israel has never made much impact on the bombers. If I was Arafat I'd look at that and definitely think twice before risking Hamas knocking at my door
One needs to understand that the bombers are civilians until the moment they kill themselves and those around them, which makes it hard to kill a "bomber" but easy to kill an "innocent" civilian. These kids attend schools where the curriculum regarding the Jews traces it's roots to Nazi Germany, and they are convinced that the way to paradise resides in strapping explosive to their chests and taking a stroll through a Jewish marketplace. When Arafat's own wife, living extremely well in Paris, says that she wished she had a son to sacrifice for the cause, it says a lot. Of course they don't have a son nor do they make any of the sacrifices their own people do. It is those who recruit, train, and fund these poor misguided kids that are in immediate need of death, and Israel is currently working on that. If Yasser were truly, "a man of peace," as his Nobel prize says, and feels his police aren't up to the challenge, then all he would have to do is ask for help to dismantle the terror groups. At the very least he can end the sick anti-Semitic propaganda being taught to grade schoolers. But he doesn't. And don't forget that this man survived Israeli death squads for decades when world opinion wasn't as critical of Israel (or at least they didn't give a **** what it was anyhow), so I'm sure he can make himself scarce as the 75th Rangers, Delta Force, and Seal teams raid the Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad & Brigade's apartments and houses with the information provided by Yasser and his lackeys. If the US is too western to bring in, than Egyptian and Turkish spec-warriors would suffice.

Actually that cliché has been said many times to somehow excuse the practice of terrorists intentionally killing innocent men, women, and children....
But it begs the question: What kind of freedom would be won by a society who considered the intentional murder of innocent children a means to an end?
Mark, we have common ground. I am surprised.

The easiest way to distinguish between "freedom fighter" and "terrorist" is to examine the targets. Freedom fighters don't kill civilians, they kill soldiers and destroy military targets. Terrorists kill whoever they can to make people feel less safe.

I feel that Israel is not innocent, as the nation was founded in an occupied part of the world, and those occupants were driven out of their land forcibly, but then, so was this country (US). I suppose if you look back far enough, so was England, France, Japan, and most every country. There is a fair amount of propaganda in Israeli schools as well, where children are taught that Palestinians were begged to stay, but left because they didn't want to live with the Jews. According to Ben-Gurion's diary, Israel was never intended to be inclusive of the Palestinians, and it follows that the Palestinians had to get out.

Not that that excuses killing non-combatants, but the resentment of Palestinians is understandable, even without anti-Semitism.

You may have spoken too soon. ;)

I'm not sure that you can blame Jews for the actual foundation of a Jewish state. The British Balfour Declaration and the League of Nations implementation were the doings of others. However any conduct thereafter maybe open for speculation.

True, the Jordanians, Kuwaitis, and Saudis have been quite harsh in their treatment of Palestinian refugees.

We can compare the (arguable) belief that the Jews were offering to share the land with the Palestinians but they refused, with the quote from a 10th grade Palestinian text book that says, "The logic of justice obligates the application of the single verdict [on the Jews] from which there is no escape; namely, that their criminal intentions be turned against them and that they be exterminated. The duty of Muslims of our time is to pull themselves together, unite their ranks, and wage war on their enemy until Allah hands down his judgment on them and us." Now, do those 2 examples equate to a "fair amount" of propaganda?

Yet there are Arabs who vote and serve in the Israeli parliament today. Can anyone honestly see the Palestinians (with it's present leadership) according that same privilege to a Jew?

Exploding sheep, whatever next?

Was a load of old cobblers, only one point of veiw, and very biased.

The common ground I was refering to was regarding the whole "one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist." The distinction is not so blurry as many make it out to be, as you indicate. I point out the common ground because it is remarkable for it's scarcity.

As far as which side is expounding more deplorable propaganda, I am not comfortable saying which is worse, since both are wrong. I realize that there are varying degrees of bad, but propaganda that perpetuates conflict is ongoing, on both sides of this.

As far as bad treatment of Palestinians, I realize that Arabian states abuse them (Palestinians), too. That doesn't make it ok for Israel to do so, however.

No, I cannot imagine a Palestinian State allowing Jewish politicians to sit in legislative seats. Then again, I cannot imagine a Palestinian State to exist under current leadership.

If the mods delete this, so be it. I'll do my part to keep it civil and respectful, and I am sure Mark will too. If the discussion has drifted too far from paintball, sorry for wasting forum space.
