try and get along to a local field when there is a walk on day or training day and have a chat with the people there. mosy will be happy to answer you questions and let u try out there markers. what suits one may not suit the other.
the most important thing to remember is that almost without fail everyone has their idea of what the best marker is, normally the one they have(have a look at the e blade/race thread as an example - race is the best! :D )
buy a marker that YOU are comfortable with not just the one that is meant to be the best.
buy second hand. it will minimise the loss u will make as u trade up to better/faster markers

and have fun

Or for a cheap marker, just as good as an impulse except smaller/lighter and cheaper, you can get a Bm2k3 with ACE for around 300-400, cheaper than both the cocker and basic impulse but with anti chop eye.

thanks for all the replys guys, ive been looking on the internet auction rooms e.g. ebay, for a good second hand gun there are a few that look good but im not sure if buying second hand across the internet is the best thing. Does anyone have an good/bad experiences with buying across the net? Also what are good sites in the uk to buy from. Ive heard good things about smartpartseurope.com as they have a good range. Finally does anyone know of any paintball shops in the southwest of england around plymouth/exeter??

once again thanks for all the replies.:)

Spuggy...

Hi. We don't have a shop, but we do sell a lot of gear via mail order in the UK and stock/supply virtually anything paintball wise that you may need. Also, we have kit stands at all of our events. In addition, we run a very active classifieds service on our web site with loads of markers avialable second hand from private individuals.

Check it out, see what you think...

Hell, wish I was playing this at 21, at 32 !!! Still, you are only as old as the person you mug ;)

Try asking for a second hand marker in the traders section of this bbs. Put down what your budget is and what you are after and you'll probably get a fair few offers as lots of people have second markers or back up guns they are looking to sell or trade.

Oh, and now matter how stupid the question, don't be afraid to ask for advice. Everyone here is pretty helpful :)

Actually some of us are of no help and value at all (Mr Pink and myself excel in uselessness), simply surfing the boards looking to sell small children into a life of slavery (eyeing Joebob enviously;) ;) ;) :D )....

Seriously though look at the classified board here, brilliant for selling stuff as long as the price is right. Often you can find mugs (like myself) willing to let things go at ridiculous prices (for fear of beatings from wife's / spouses / lovers / baboons etc).

Example the newer Shinnier IR3 comes out which you simply must have. You tell the missus it only cost 99 quid, but she still makes you sell the old tricked up Impy for 2.50 (she thinks you actually paid 69 quid for it). Bargains galore!!!

Also some of the Paintball shops are brilliant and have excellent starter packages try John @ LPS, PlanetEclipse etc etc

Id back up what was said earlier,
Go out and try any and all markers you can get your mucky mitts on.
If you find a nice Impulse (for example) on the internet, Make sure youve tried an impulse (preferably that one if you can) before you commit to buying. That way if you dont agree with the marker (and everyone has pet hate markers) then you havent already wasted your money.

As for which marker to go for. Its purely budget dependant.
Second hand will bring better markers into range. But check who you are buying from.
If ya like cockers, always give DangerousBrian a shout, he's usually got something in the pipeline. But do check classifieds on this forum.
i am continually shocked at some of the prices some makers are sold for, due to the seller having their balls in a vice, with a female "other half" cranking it tighter.

If ya need any more help. give us a shout
