Okay i know im going to open up a can of worms here but i need to know all the basics!!! By that i mean:

What type to go for if you want a good reliable entry level gun that can be used in tourney's but is modern enugh to update and give the user a good understandong of markers technology?

Impulse??
Tippman?? i played with the model 98 but want a more modern marker. I also layed with a pump action but didnt like it as i couldnt hit the ground with a full hopper.

(Prepare to laugh)

Whats an Autococker, a cocker, the "50"( some thing about half way point, when playing???)

Im 21 and just played paintball a couple of mounths ago. It was in the woods so im guessing it was "rec ball???". I really got into it and want to start proper. As i said im 21 and not sure if ill be considered (god help me) old?? When did you guys start??

Reading the forums and Paintball international Magazine is a bit of a chore because of all of the technical jargon.

ANY jargon explained would be a help.

cheers.

but if u buy a cocker brand new u dont need to time it, unless u put more mods on it, And all u have to do is find some1 who knows how to time cockers rather well. like i did

Kev paul, outstanding person with cockers.

Firstly, marker. A Tippman is an OK entry level marker, but not great as a tourney job. Best bet if you are really sure you are going down the tournament road is a cocker (Autococker is the same thing) or basic impulse. Both can be upgraded just about as far as you want both usful & just shiney upgrades, but won't need any of these done for ytou to be able to have a good day out. Completely forget pumps - only an expert can keep with even a novice team with semis.

The "50" is half way up the field - any further & you're in the opposition's territory.

Rec ball is short for recreational paintball, i.e. just for fun & not a tournament. There are still some tourneys in the woods but they are getting few & far between, most are now played on an arena type field of some sort e.g. sup'air or hyperball.

At 21 there is no way you're too old! I'm nearly double your age & captain a tourney team, & I saw Sid Spittal (one of the greats from years ago) playing at the Campaign Cup at Crystal Palace in London (international tourney) & he must be over 70!

Good luck, have lots of fun & maybe see you in the middle. Welcome to the boards.:)

Impulse or shocker is an ace starter gun !

but i suggest u get something second hand as thats definatly the best way to get a good deal! (Make sure u try the marker b4 u buy!)

Don't worry about ya age dude i started tourneys when i was 21 one of my team is 42 and my dad plays and he's 50 in a couple of months Old git:)
