Warning, this post is a bit image heavy!
I and others have brought the fact that the lion used in the Team GB jersey as supplied by Maxsimum Customs for the EPBF is the wrong one! See the design for 2012 from their Facebook page.
You can see that this design shows a lion stood on it's hind legs (Rampant) with two Crossed Tails. This appears to be a hybrid of lions from various European coats of arms:
a) The Scottish Lion Rampant
b) The Belgian Lion
c) The Czech Lion Rampant with Crossed Tails
d) And The Lion Rampant with Crossed Tails from the Crest of the former Kings of Bohemia
As those of you still with this may of observed, all the lions above are left facing (including the Scottish Lion), except the one on the GB Jersey.
The Heraldic coat of arms for England is the Three Lions (or Leopards) Passant Guardant
And, that for the United Kingdom incorporates both the Scottish Lion Rampant, The Three Lions of England and a Gaelic Harp to represent Northern Ireland.
Those still with me on this one may agree that either by oversight or slight we have been lumbered with the wrong emblem on the Jerseys.
Now the questions are, can this be rectified and what should the design incorporate?
