Having spoken to Kingman (Josh, Tom, Tina etc) at the IAO where it happened they did pay out, in fact they've always wanted too as the winning with Sypders thing is better for them that the 50K hit is bad. BC just have to follow it up now.....

I don't beleive you can insure against a marketting campaign!
Beaker I never said they didn't "want" to pay out, it was a great promotion and the extra revenue the promotion has brought in must have more than paid for the "prize" plus all the pre sales from teams trying to do it as well. Most all things can be insured, look at the Lloyds scandel a few years back when the "names" lost a huge sum of money, they all thought they were making money through the lack of chances that they would have to pay up...ok they got caught thats how insurrance works...pay a large enough premium and you can insure against anything....so if they did do that it wouldn't have been $50,000 as the premium plus that premium would have been tax deductable. I wasn't being negative just saying that there are ways of avoiding the hurt to your bank account.

I never intended no harm....... :)

I think that it would still be more beneficial for them to write off the years contigency for all tournaments off their books as a marketing expenese, that way they get "tax relief" on the whole lot, including the 30K for 2nd etc etc.

However, regardless of the details, 5 dudes are walking around 50K richer from winning a tournament with Sypders, that's really the bottom line :D:D
