So come on JTHM what did you mean by your comments?

Welp Richard, Gyro kinda beat me to it.

Seriously though, to be around Paintball for 3 years and you've never heard of Palmer?
I do suppose it's possible, in fact I guess your living proof.

While the fight over who came up with Auto-cocking first (Palmer or Bud Orr) rages on, the Blazer has always been considered a fine piece of equipment. While I'd not consider it for Tourny play, I'm sure Tyger would. :D ( no Tyger that was not a dig, I just prefer Electro)

' OK Richard, I meant no Dis'.

I think I own one of the few (only) Palmer guns in the UK...

They are extremely rare over here, the average Euro baller wouldn't know who PPS is. So it's not suprising many UK ballers haven't heard of them even though they have a cult following in the USA.

How many Americans have heard of the Scorpion Autoloader? And no it aint the piece of crap Scorpion that looks like an M16 wannabe. :D

BTW I have a 'Count' from Palmer :)

Count = Custom Over and Under Nasty Typhoon... or a double barrelled monster machine!

I'll take a stab

>>>> Glen Palmer may or may not have invented the self-cocking mechanism that is employed in the autococker, Sovereign, and Blazer before Bud Orr did. There is some controversy on this.<<<<

There's no controvery on this in my mind...I remember seeing ads for Palmer's "true semis" long before any other semi-autos hit the scene. They were made from the Piranha "sniper rifle" lookalikes, and the cocking mechanism was stuck on the side of the 'gun. They were heavy, and not particularly fast compared to today's, but they were true semis.

>>>> Unquestionably, Orr did a better job of getting his creation into the hands of players.<<<<

Again, there's no controvery here in my mind. That statement is 110% correct.

Palmer 'guns are unique and people tend to hover on both sides of the extremes...those that love 'em REALLY love 'em and if you don't like 'em then you really don't like 'em. But Palmer Pursuit makes good stuff, not just semis (they made the most popular Autococker aftermarket accessories for years).

Lotsa love,
~J~

Old School, New Tricks
I've got a PPS Stroker, I got it in '93. It's still able to keep up with the "E-Boys" out there. And I don't want to think about how much paint has passed thru that gun....

I remember when Glenn unveiled the Blazer at the Knox Indoor in '97. He came off the field literally shaking. "THIS IS SO COOL!!!" he said, eyes wide as dinner plates. I don't think that, to that point, he had put a nitro tank onto one. They sing on Nitro.

It's ugly, yes. But damned if it breaks down. It's a reliable beast of a gun that's light, efficient, and works well. And never stops working well. At the Knox Indoor "Palmerized" was the only team that didn't spend all it's off time tinkering with a gun. :) Leper already naield it as a "Block of function", but what a block!

The other nice thing about Palmer guns. Someone asked Glenn at a trade show what paint was the best to shoot through his guns. His reply : "The round stuff." I've had rollouts with the smallest Diablo, but it'll hold everything else just fine. Seems to like Blaze and El Tigre, for some reason.

So, no, the Blazer's not a looker. But I'd like to point out that the SR-71 Blackbird is not exactally a sexy airplane, but WOW could it fly! At leat you can get it anno'ed to match your gear.

-Tyger (Who may break down and get a Blazer, and save the Stroker to play people that really deserve to be shot with an "antique"....)

No worries,

I have heard of Palmer, just never come across the Blazer, just thought you were being a bit rough on ericostani. The fact is he may be a noob, or he may not, he may also be European, explaining his ignorance of Palmer Pursuits. Either way, thought that your post just put the guy (or gall) down unneceserily...

Didn't know about the Orr/Palmer controvesy, guess you learn something new every day
