Ticking 'Gift' should also avoid tax.
Ive had that done with stuff i got from the states and it just came straight through no hassle...although on the description he wrote 'three plastic toys'

Customs are really clamping down a lot more on imports.
Stating £20.00 on invoice will not work, as they take into account the shipping as well! Also stating a low value for the item, also means if it goes missing in the post it will only be covered up to the invoice value.
Customs will also "adjust" the value of an item, if they feel the value has been stated incorrectly. And they will normally set the new value a lot higher than the original price.

Ticking gift will work if the goods are normally coming in from a third party, although stuff coming direct from the maker/supplier will not normally get around duty.

cheers guys, makes a bit more sence now, will get in touch with the guy in the states and see how i can avoid a little of the tax.....not that fussed tho, i just want the damn body here!

ok im in switzerland so its a bit different, but my marker came to my door and three weeks later i got a bill for£30 and it only took7 days,that was a 330$ marker. next i get a evil pipe set from the states, takes only five days and 150$ ,no charges, and anythink that has arrived from my ma in the uk she marks gift so far so good.
now im waiting for a halo b from my team shop and they have a back log off 5 on order, and oddysee also have a backlog.
