There's nothing wrong with that Gassy...but depending on the type of post and length of it it can sometimes be hard to know exactly where you went wrong. And if your going to tell them to read the rules anyway, you might as well say which rule in particular you deleted the thread over while your at it.

All I'm saying is if your going to delete someone's post for a mistake they may not realise they've made, especially if it's one that the chances are they're going to just type back out again like a classifieds post, then it can't hurt to send a 10 word PM to them or something letting them know why you deleted it at the time of deletion - at least you'll get less of these why threads. And it doesn't mean they won't go an read the rules, they'll probably do that anyway, but they'll know which one you were enforcing and to make sure they address it when re-posting..

I dunno...vanishing threads with no reason is just one of those things that bugs me.

AJ, we delete threads every day. It is time consuming going through the boards keeping an eye on things. To have to send a PM to each user detailing each thing that they missed would realistically treble the amount of time we spend doing things. None of us get paid to do this, we have families etc to deal with.

If your thread has been deleted, you know you haven't followed the rules. It's as simple as that. The onus is on the membership to read and follow the rules. We're here to tidy up anything that doesn't meet the rules. When you signed up, you ticked boxes saying you would read and follow the rules. We're going to do the easiest thing to keep things running. Annoying though it may be, it is unlikely to change.

Im sorry we can't please everyone but thats just the way it is.

I think this comes down to two problems; the first being, people not reading the rules / forgetting the rules.
I never read the rules of anything and so I'm not the best person to be commenting on this but, being the site owner, I better say something.

The second problem is, the sheer number of deletions the mods have to do .... which by the way ...is in almost exact correlation to those members who haven't read the rules.

Bottom line is this, either the mods adopt a policy of writing out a pm each and every time there's a problem post, to members who maybe haven't bothered to read the rules or.......we just delete it, the mods save an enormous amount of time and the offending poster, gets to read the rules as he should have done in the beginning ....guess where my vote's going ?

What is wrong with telling you to go and read the rules, then you make your thread again with everything correct and nothing missing, you also educate yourself to the new rules at the same time so the same mistake won't happen again and you also know all the other classfied rules.

cause clarkies on here :D;) read he can barely turn on a computer
