To be honest I think it would! If it were only players and 1 guest allowed into the tents then I reckon that s half the battle. As for the thiefs bein players I have to admit that yeah it probably is, but if at the captains meeting it was annonced that all teams have to be aware that there are players trying to steal kit. If a team seen anyone not with the team who's table he is at diggin into kit was to be reported (as such).
If all the tables in the player tent had very clear signs of to what team is on that table it would be easy to tell who is somewhere they shouldn t.
Now I know that people whill say ''well some teams have freinds etc in other teams'' but am talkin bout when there is no1 from that team at their table and sum1 comes up and decides to start gettin the goods.....
Paragraph 1. - So , if its a player , passes dont matter , he's in there anyway. How many threads have there been over the last year or so , along the lines of "insert tourney here - stolen kit". We know people are nicking kit , it does not need an announcement at a captains meeting. There are several teams with players that I know , and I would absolutely allow to go into my kit and get stuff if they needed it. I trust them and I know they would help me out. I bet that applies to most players on most teams.
Paragraph 2. - Yes , if every team had there own distictive tops , and all teams were happy with the position given to them in the tent , and all other teams were going to sit watch when they are in the tent. That is never gonna happen. People want to choose there own space , and are generally too busy getting stuff sorted to be watching other people. I think that anyone seeing someone in a kit bag would think they were ok to be in it anyway.
Paragraph 3. - Back to what I said in para 1. If its people I know , then I trust them to go into my stuff if they need it. Even if I and my team are not there to watch.
I know what you are trying to say , and in general I agree , but passes aint gonna make a difference. Not really. Its just gonna make the events cost more.
We have just got to be a little more carefull about what we take/leave at tournies. I would say that 99.9% of people at events are trust worthy.
To anyone out there who knows the guy who took the barrel , he needs to be named/shamed/photos posted etc. We dont need this kind of crap. If it was an accident , or case of crossed wires , give it back and explain why you took it.
Cheers.
