Securing our stuff

I know it’s only a deterrent but I have a bike lock, you know one of those wire ones which I just wrap round the table leg or link through the handle of someone else’s bag. That way if anyone grabs your whole kit bag to walk out with it, and let’s face it not difficult to do amid the chaos of setup areas especially change-over time, then hopefully they will not bother or look very conspicuous trying to drag a table with them! It’s a real pain having to make sure every loose bit of kit is tidied away whilst out playing but most thieves are opportunists so leaving a shiny marker or hopper etc on the table is just too tempting and easy for them.

I have been to every Millenium this year with UK Jaguars (Yey!! highest placed Brit AmB) and Maxs and Campaign were the best for security, checking passes etc. Yet still stuff gets taken.

Played Campaign with UK jags novice team and had a blast. God I LOVE this game!

Why is it some people have to spoil it for others!

Rachel ;)

How about employing someone to look after bags and kit at a selected point, and each time a bag is handed in by the owner that person is given a matching ticket, and when you want to collect the item hand the ticket in and you will receive your kit. The area can easily be secured and it resolves leaving your bags unattended and the organisers can charge each person.

Where it comes to lost tickets your kit will not be handed back until the end of the day and then you will have to describe what is in your bag and provide some ID before the kit being handed back to you.

It will be the responsibility of the player to retain the ticket if you lose the ticket and someone finds it and hands it in to collect your kit then that will be the fault of the player for not keeping it in a secure place.

Or you can do it both ways provide ticket and proof of ID before the return of kit.

But - once you are kitted up - more or less everything left in the bag is the "what if" stuff........ i.e. all the extras.

So - have a secure area where players can turn in their kit bag after kitting up, under supervision of an official and where you can only get your bag released upon showing your ID card...... kind of like a wardrope at a club.

Have "luggage tag" ID cards made, that correspond to the player ID, so that every player can tag his luggage.

This way, every time you are going to leave the players area for a game, you just hand in your bag at the "wardrobe", to pick it up again upon return.

Safe, easy and requires just 1 employee (actually, the promoters would save all the people they use for every exit today).

This is what i was trying to say.:p

This idea will only need one person if done write even if you have say over 1000 players.
This will cut down on theft during tournaments and this idea is the only Viable solution.
And i would pay say £2 for the service so that would be £12.00 for a team of 7 adding more profit for the organisers giving them the chance to pay the marshals more money.
This idea is or will be put into affect at one tournament i know.;)

I was spectating on Saturday and couldn't believe the number of markers left laying around all over the place which anyone could've picked up and walked out of the stadium with.

you can put all the security in the world in but a bit of common sense would stop a lot of these issues

As a general rule paintballers are too trusting ... its the same here in NZ (although we've never had case of stolen gear to really worry about).

Look at it this way - leaving your gear just lying around is like leaving your car on the side of the street at 1am with the keys in the ignition .... and damn what ever security the promoter has put on.
