Simple idea when loaning out kit is to have a digi camera handy and take a picture of the person holding the kit, with so many new faces on a noobie day it's easy to loose track of who's borrowed what.

If the kit never returns then post the pic up on here, someones likely to know them.
good call
we have a digicam most days to snap the newbies give them something to show thier mates so this could be an easily implemented solution.

still, it sucks when you have to resort to a police like state
i guess thats just the current climate in the uk (!!?)

Your right, shouldn't be nescessary and it won't help with random thefts but when loaning out expensive kit it could at least help track it down at the end of the session and make it a little less attractive to walk off with someone's stuff.

This Just plain sucks!!!! And we wonder why british ball stinks!!!

U get something so good and something that the sport has desperately needed for ever....just like nq and then the minority of light fingered b@stards decides to ruin it time and time again!!

After our marker went 'missing' a couple of years ago, we were helped out and supported big time!!

Now it's time to pay it back Markie........The SoManc eyes and ears are wide open bro' if u need anything, just call mate.

....is it me or has there been a growing trend in thefts in 2006?
Yup - Slightly away from NQ, yesterday at the Welsh, its quite scary to see so much equipment left laying around - i turned up at 11.45, walked straight into the pit tent - without any questioning (ok some peeps know me anyway) but its is quite easy to wonder in for some theiving scum - we make it too easy for them im afraid...

On the plus side, its peeps on here like beaks and Dave and many others etc that rally around/make generous offers after stuff like this happens which restores your faith in the human race...!

NQ is a fantastic venue and the guys there are always willing to lend stuff out if needed in the interest of promoting our sport - people will always take the bait if its there though and I think you guys just have to be a bit tougher, even with newbies im afraid... Tricky balance but im sure you guys will sort it.

Still a bitch when it happens - i just put all my gear on my house insurance for an extra £100 quid a year  - pain in the ass but CC and other incidents of gear going walkies made me realise the cost is definately worth it....

I digressed so apologies for the waffle!

Paintball has always suffered from theft, but it always used to be outsiders robbing during the night. Now it seems that people who play the sport are nicking off others. I had a box of paint stolen at "the big game", this was the first time i have ever had something taken and i have been playing for about 14 years! A box of paint cost £30ish, but i know people have had very expensive markers stolen recently. So stealing is something we all need to be aware of, and try and stamp out.

Lending people tools/equipment, helping others with technical advice and being able to leave your stuff unattended, is what makes people enjoy spending a day dressed as a bush/power-ranger.

i know its also off topic slightly... but following on from what oppy said about this weekend at the welsh open...

we were helping tidy up some of the crap in the big marquee and there was a fully set up dm4 left in there! im guessing someone was going to come back to it... but the fact that a whole team didn't notice it got left behind when they packed up their kit, is kinda disheartening to say the least! i mean, mikey601 off of here, put his marker down by a field and one of the angels took it back for him... it may have caused some confusion at the time, but was the best thing to do.

so many people milling here and there... nobody knows whose gear is whose ad who is who... is there nothing we can do about it? like cordon off certain areas for div's or even teams???

back to nq stuff... thats a real bitch, and i know when ive leant stuff out before it may have come back a bit dirty or needing an o-ring changing here and there... but at least its all come back so far! i think as well, if you link up people with car plate numbers... then that may also help if you ever took info to the police, and also to deter people since they cant fake that if its right there infront of you! :)

good luck fighting the good fight

yeah i had a similar incident at CC, we rotated players and the person sitting would bring their marker as a spare. i left the spare for the game while watching and forgot to get it, then left with the team after the game. realised what i had done and went back say 20 mins later, and the marshalls had taken it into the chrono station which was very nice of them. could have easily gone the other way so i learnt my lesson there too about leasving things unattended.

Yeah i see your point its not the night time we are worried about cause we are in a closed off farm where you have to go trough the farm yard at night which is closed off and has big dogs but you wouldn't have thought that we would be worried about the day times would you.

and thanks beaker dont no what to say mate. but thanks.
