To be honest the funding is not a big deal to us form our SU. As we never expected a penny from them. But the facilities do. They turned the hall we trained in into a dance studio then, even though nothing has changed except a lick of paint and a new floor, told us we could not use it for reball any more. They moved us to a new hall which was great except it meant we had our sessions cut from 6 hours a week to 2.. in that 2 hours you have 20 minutes set up then 20 minutes pack down. So we get an 1:20 of paintball a week now. Big drop from the 6 hours we used to have where we could get in early to setup.

If we were a sport however we would get training facility priority.. this would make the biggest impact for us over the extra money.

i have too laugh everytime i see a thread like this, especially when people say that money is holding the sport back when it is such an easy fix.
we all moan that x or y format is the problem when infact it is the kit we need too control in each div.
know how this works is
newbie teams mech only grave hoppers etc
next div up kit not allowed too cost more than £500 from new etc etc,all you have to do is look at other expensive sports like motor racing and this is what they do they put divs in that restrict cost

Afraid I don't agree man. People should be able to spend what they want.

There are plenty of 'all the gear, no idea' people in paintball and should they be forced to play pro just cos they have money.

People need to realise that just cos they can only afford an Etha it doesn't mean you can't play pro. I remember a team from a while ago called Tippmann effect. No idea if they are still going, but they competed at the top level with Tippmann 98's and kicked ass with them. Same for a team that used Spyders I think?

I doesn't mater what gear you use, if you can play, you can play with anything. We would only hurt the industry further if we stop new players buying certain price rang guns. Talk about restricting your market!

I mean, I've snowboarded a few times and bought a board at one point. Imagine if that meant I had to ride the pipe against Sean White. Or if I had to play a round with Tiger cos I got some decent clubs. Got a feeling that just wouldn't work at all.

Bad company played with Spyders, and I agree that kit does not the man maketh. Give a good player an Etha or ego 5 or anything else which shoots, they'll eliminate the money men every time ;)

Seconded. So long as you've got something that shoots 10bps then there is nothing that will change the tide of the game other than talent.

Ego05 is our weapon of choice!! For now. And we rip!!

I guarantee you give an Etha to a killer and he'll still mow fools, then you'll need a different excuse as to why your game sucks.

Skills, technique and experience. Get that down and you're laughing. Yeah, an inferno is always gonna be a massive disadvantage against a Geo but a poor player with the Geo will always get his ass bunkered.

Never look for reasons outside of yourself when wondering why you lose. It will always be either you sucked, your team sucked or the opposition played better. So many guys out there with the latest kit who don't have a balling bone in their body...but they have fun!!

You guys don't get it,yes any body can all the kit and no idea, but what we should try to do is grow the sport from the bottom up, not the top down.yes players maybe not as. Good as others, but these guys need to be kept in the game, even if at a lower level.see too many players spend £100s on kit then play one year then sell up,now that hurts the industry more, than trying too accomadate that player at a lower level

It's been tried, limited paint games and all that stuff. Doesn't make a blind button of difference.

If you start someone with basic kit, they've to spend more money upgrading as they progress up the ladder and the basic kit is worth nothing. Start someone on what they're going to be up against and yes, it's a baptism of fire but there's no point pussying around either. If you want people to play tourneys you got to let them know what they're in for, how much it WILL cost them and the realities of their choices to play otherwise a new guy is in for a short and very sharp shock. Give somone an Empire Axe, show them Infamous or XSV playing with that EXACT marker and explain about the dedication, money, requirements and tell them it could be them some day.

One should always start as one intends to continue. Go hard or go the f*ck home. Sh*t or get off the pot..............
