Staining paint Again

Needs to be better control over the paint being used at tourneys over in this country i feel.

Introducing a test simualr to waht the millenium series use onto all paint being used would be a good idea. I can't remeber the exact ins and outs of the test, but im sure it's not rocket science.
The PA carried out independent testing of paints prior to the Campaign Cup last year and we actually had a number of discussions with Niall about the results. On the back of this the Millenium commission then carried out there own tests. For legal reasons we weren't prepared to release the results publicly. We did however take it up with individual manufacturers where we felt there was a problem.

We had been assured that it was no longer a problem. However it obviously is. I think we need to be careful however that we differentiate betwen "staining" paint and paint which is "difficult to remove"

As I've said in another thread somewhere else, we now have to waste more time testing a whole batch of paints trying to ID the culprit. Can't say I'm very happy about it.

Unfortunately, it still doesn't stop a team bring their own paint which may be a brand or batch we haven't tested. The only way around this is to say all paint is venue supplied only.

I too have experienced the frustration of staining paint (or really really hard to wash out) not at this event i hasten to add, but at the M25 series last year, it seemed that different batches of paint as well as manufacturers reacted in different ways. ie sometimes it was green stains sometimes it was pink- never yellow tho????? my advice is to get your shirts in the wash as soon as you get home, don't leave the shirt in a place where the paint can be baked on ie under a car heater vent etc. and finally rinse em at the event if poss. I know this won't solve all the probs but will certainly limit the damage done by this paint.

P.s the witch hunt for staining paint will never work on the forums
