The simple fact is they are totally safe however people do not follow instuctions that are included with the product.....

If your car type said fill me slow to 'whatever' pressure would you fill it fast?, propbs not if the car was new, but if it got a little older and YOU thought you knew better then maybe your would.

The UKPSF states correct filling times for ALL bottles and shud be adheared to, however they are NOT.

Flash filling a stako is what i would call a idiot!!

Read the instuctions and also follow the safety bodys on filling ALL (not just stako) bottles and paintball with remain safe!!!!!!

Following instructions isnt rocket science, the real science goes into making bottles and writing the rules. :D

ok i went to a smart parts course and was told that certain oils or grease will ignite under high pressure just like fuel in cars so if any gun oil is used and finds its way in you have a bomb waiting to go off, aint stakos got plastic inner casings and isant plastic made from oil material

sounds about right pete. ive got a stako but havent used it since niges experience through fear of hurting myself, my marker or anyone around me. my pmi 1.1ltr is heavier but i feel a whole lot safer. :) if the tournament organisers and hpac are willing to fill them then ultimately it comes down to the user. might be wise letting people around you know your filling a stako though :D

Stako's are safe to fill to 4,500, but because the safety margin is less that a standard bottle I decline to buy one. I trust myself, but I lend my gear out sometimes to total strangers, if their need is great. I want to know, that if I go to a fill station I have never been to before and it is capable of flash fills, I have the chance to slow the rate down before it goes bang. I would take the extra margin of safety over the weight advantage, but thats me.
Stako's were developed with tournament players in mind, buy one in confidence that if is a safe bottle, but use it only in official tournament events and training where you know who is providing the air. Never take one to a walk on site and note they do not have to advertise that the do not fill stako's, because it is a private site and they already have the right to refuse you admission and if they are not happy with you or your equipment, they can prevent you playing.
