My advice to you mate (just to confuse matters further :p ) would be to go for either the tippman 98 or inferno, just because their both so simple to maintain, hardly need to touch em to keep em in working order, just a little bit of gun oil every now and then is all you need :). But at the end of the day its your money so get out there and try as many markers as possible, then decide whats for you.
Hope this helps

I have owned my Spyder Xtra for 3 years nearly and its still shooting fine, its the way people treat them. Some people think ahh well starter marker and all, but it does require some unique care to keep it up and running.

I have always used these techniques since day one and in the 3 years and quite a bit of rough and tough action and i have only every used one pot of oil, one small set of o-rings (only used about 3 spare o-rings, mainly bolt and striker where movement takes place).

Every marker with a decent rep will work fine, it all depends if u wanna take care of it or not.

Le-Pig... spyders were just too complicated for you mate, bring raise this gripe each time spyders are mentioned :D

Inferno - Tippmann - Spyder - up there as the good starter markers, with spyders having the edge on looks and the largest range of electro-starter markers out there.

Try one and see, its well worth taking time to learn some essencial basics about spyders. But thats just me supporting spyders and stopping the **** that is a lack of care or over-caring of them maintenance wise.

Spyders RULE!
