i think so yes, but people have other oppinions.

I think spyders are great guns to learn how to play with and to learn how to maintain, to learn the basics of a gun. Especially if you can get one cheap.

However you will be outgunned by the cockers, angels, shockers etc... of this world so you will need to upgrade at some point. Playing Rec isnt as bad, and its a cool starting point, but if you wanna play tourney dont get a spyder, save yer money and get something better second hand, like a cocker or an angel.

Im sure these other guys will help you out with info too, im still basically a newb and there are some right legends hanging around :D.

spyders are good as a started but if u are like me and want to be moving from rec - tourneys then a spyder is no good as they end up chopping paint.

also if u get a spyder u will defently need to change the barrel as the shock barrel is not that good.

but i do say save ur money for a cheap cocker or angel.
cockers are good now as there easy to up grade and cheap to up grade.

they should be ppl a long with more info.

pending on budget you can get angels for around 250 same with mech cockers 300 - 450 will get you an eblade, if you plan on playing tourney with a team, save your cash on average teams usually have at least 6 spare guns between everyone, someone will lend you one mate. i personally do not like spyders again for the reasons mentioned they chop ! it will be cheaper in the long run to wait and save, trust me i went through the same thing :)

OK I know they are not an angel, impulse or autococker but then i don't have the money for one of them, (if anyone knows of an autococker for £129.99 then for gods sake let me know, and lets be honest you'd have to be in the right place at the right time, next to the bloke in the pub with the flat cap and mongrel) !
Is the ball choping problem a big issue, or is it they just get out of shape when the fire rate goes up?
Are there any better alternatives in the bargain basement collection of cheap markers?

Well i think ive chopped 1 or 2 balls in about 12 - 14k rounds through my spyder, they dont chop provided your hopper is fast enough in my experience. However my mates Spyder compact always chopped, tis a weird thing.

The only problem i have is when the ROF goes up the bolt kind of uncocks itself halfway and i have to recock to carry on firing.

I will stick up with what i said, but you may be best off saving for a mech cocker second hand, then you have yourself a futureproof gun that is fully upgradable to tourney level and you save yourself money in the long run.

Go get some advice, try out some guns, save some more money and check out the classifieds section.

save your money mate. what are going to play? rec or tourney? if it's rec ball then fair enuff go for an imagine they will do the job. if it's tournaments then save your money, use a site gun, borrow a gun whatever but get yourself something that will at least keep up with tourney guns. We are today seeing novice teams with uber gats etc so you will probably need summat to keep up.

i just got back on the scene a good few weeks ago, and bought a cheap spyder that was for sale. DONT because you'll simply want to emulate the ROF and accuracy of those with better markers on the field, which would end up in a lot of chopped paint on your behalf.

it only took a month or so to save for my angel and simply thought of my spyder as not only a waste of money, but a commitment that prolonged me having the gun of my choice.

P.S. by second hand! just visit the classifides in this section! DO NOT bother with ebay its a ripoff!
