yep rifled barrels are called rifled barrels for a reason 
after that its all a matter of how quiet it is

Dr. Strangelove.... I don't really see it as a waste, though i have considered it a waste of $, but now all i want is good performance, so i was just thought a boomstick would be a good choice... but thanx for replying....that is thanx to everyone

rifled barrels depends on how its designed internally as for noise.. usually its louder unelss you have proper straight-porting on the muzzle
spiraled porting on the muzzle does squat for noise reduction

I've no doubt that they do NOT spin the paintball but all the rifled barrels I've used (4 so far) HAVE made a differance to long range accuracy, I could tell you why, but then I'd have to kill you!
oh and they've all been pretty dam quiet as well! Paul
