Staying warm on a sunday!
warped sports are offering sponsorship packages to teams with tomahawk

if you are interested give Jim a call on 01902 455 455

and say wierd rob sent you

but like most people have said above you need to basically build up a team profile and basically sell yourself to the potential sponsor

too many teams want Sh!t for free nowadays and its a hard slog to get what most people want!!

From what I see in paintball there is a difference between sponsorship and getting a few breaks on cost.

Looking at the Dynasty model, they are a true sponsored team, basically get it free it goes on the jersey and raise high awarness for the company, People starting out want to be Dynasty and want the latest marker, paint, barrell, etc etc.

The new people to the sport want to BUY into the Dynasty brand.

As a new team you may get cheap paint, or cheap kit but this is not sponsorship. and you wont get sponsorship on any real level below top pro. Why, well you are not selling your brand to the massses.

You play small tournaments, to people with the same breaks as you, and why would any one think a new team should be the one to follow (unless like Nexus you have the extreme talent at the start to challenge in the game)

Other wise the "sponsor" deal is just incentive to buy one product from that place.

Looking in DVD terms, you want King Kong on DVD. Tesco have it at £24.99 because its new and a blockbuster, however Amazon have it at £20.99 but postage is £3.99 unless you spend £50 or more. Play do it for £17.99 free. You get the same product but you shop around for it (is my point)

Paint by most standards is good at tourny grade level, you could probably use a different brand each tourney and just get a good price per event. But the "feeling" of sponsorship makes for trade loyalty.

Like Sam said don't worry about sponsorship, worry about creating a team that can play and can challenge the big names, because then you will be noticed. The better you are the better the price deals you will be offered.

So what is there "real deal"? Unless its something for nothing, in my book that isn't sponsorship its just insentive,

I don't want to knock Warped, I don't know them, however my nail and head is probably going to apply.

Unless they give teams a true we will give you paint free for the season, they are just offering and incentive deal to put your money through them. Which is fine as that is what players need.

I would love to be proved wrong and teams get to play for nothing but at the current state of affairs, even teams with deals are paying one way or another about £70 a tourney for just the tourny (not food or accomadation)

Doesnt sponsor just mean to support or aid?????

So there for even if people are giving discounts this is aiding people or supporting them to do what they want to do.

Im sure there are many forms of sponsorship.

Im probably wrong and im sure some1 will tell me i am, but thats the way i view it.

There are many forms of sponsorship, yes. But most people envisage sponsorship to be a free ride. In very few cases is it a free ride.

Last season there were very few teams who got 'free stuff'.

Assisted buying is far more common. i.e Buy 10 boxes get 2 free. Or buy 10 guns and get the kit at half price.

All companies offer ' sponsorship' in some form or another - you will find now its more often called 'team support' or something along those lines. . . . .

- Full traditional sponsorship
- 'Team' pricing, bulk buy discounts
- Contingency
- 'Points' programs

As already mentioned. . . Stores and sites want to know what YOU can do for THEM. . . .

Just putting their logo on your jersey is not really sufficent compensation. Can you do a trade stand at a local tourney series, can you work for one saturday a month at the local field cleaning the equipment or marshalling? Can you convert all your friends to loyal 'Brand X' product users?

. . .Sponsoring a team is not an inexpensive venture.. . make sure you walk around in their shoes. . . .

Set out a team portfolio or website, include pictures, accomplishments, media articles, statistics, team beliefs and mantras. Training regimes can also be interesting.

Also lay it out in black and white what you are looking for, no point on wasting your time - or that of your potiential sponsor - if you can't get what you need/want.

Be realistic in what you ask for. A brand new, never played a tourney Rookie team can't expect to have all their entry fees paid for, or be 100% kitted out with everything from Gloves to Guns. . . . . where this would be much more the case for a high profile established Professional team - such as Dynasty as suggested.

Also learn to spell 'S-P-O-N-S-O-R' and Sponsorship. After personally reading tons of them in my old job, and hundreds of them weekly in my current job nothing makes you drop the portfolio faster than bad 'speelings'. . . . .

When taking to said company, know what you want and speak professionally. . . Don't speak in 'Ebonics', or 'Shizzle', or use 'uh' or 'yo' between every word. . . . and don't just ask 'can I get free stuff' - man I hear it EVERYDAY!!!!

IF you are going to pound the pavement, or make calls to the potential sponsors, Be Prepared. . . .Alot of companies offer you information right on their websites about sponsorship, such as

1. WE DO NOT ACCEPT SPONSORSHIP SOLICITATIONS, a la Ed and Warped Sportz

2. Who to contact directly, like Procaps / DraXxus

3. Exactly what to include in your team portfolio, like Dye / Proto do
