How hard do you suppose it would be to rig a break beam sensor for an Eblade? I know there would be drilling involved, and you'd need to match the proper wires to the pins on the board, but is it feasible? Anyone tried it? I was thinking of using Timmy style eyes, but I am not averse to using two Eblade eyes with the emitter disconnected on one side and the detector disconnected on the other. Splice them into one plug and you should be golden, right?

I am not sure, but I always thought that one half the eye was an infrared emitter, the other a receiver. If the emitter and receiver were seperated and routed to each side of the body, they should still work, right?

Slicing the eye in half isn't practical, but taking two wires from one side (relating to the emitter) and inserting it into a plug and taking two wires from the other (relating to the sensor) into the same plug should require the same power, I would think. Two eyes, one plug, half of each eye not connected... Why not?

(See how I talk myself up to expensive risks? A beer or two and I will be drilling a cocker body up.)

Searching for the pro-tour....:S
Well it sounds feasable, but you might want to have a little chat with the guys at planet eclipse before you go doubling up the eyes into your board. Just to be safe!!!! :D

Let me know if it works, my ultralight is needing some electronic attention, and adding a through beam eye sounds fun!!!!!

Dont forget also that the presence of a ball in a reflective eye is incidacted by a high signal from the IR reciever(light reflects off ball and is picked up), where as the presence of a ball in a break beam is indicated by a low signal from the reciever(ball blocks light getting to reciever).

So you would have to invert the signal.

Personally - I am currently working on a non-electronic eye system to go with the super-fast Mech trigger being developed.

It uses a complicted system of string and pulleys to detect the ball and raise a gate - allowing the ball to fire.

I predict great things for this system, as it can be applied to other usages such as Cat-flaps, Car Parks etc.

PM me for details on Licencing and Patents:)
