Someone explain LP/HP to a thickie please.

Hmmm, first off i would stop panicking!!
Life is all cool. What marker do you want to shoot? The only one you may have issues with would be the shocker. But this is easily sorted by running an inline reg such as the cp or the timmy reg and just adjusting the output into the gun. All the other markers i can think of should be fine apart from the angel 06/g7 because thay use a cartridge reg that im not sure if you can change.

I'm saying goodbye to my dm4 and I'm gonna have a bash with a 2k4 viking for a bit.

Compressed air terrifies me. I'm plagued by nightmares of bottles exploding off the fill-station and taking my leg off.

Personally would have held onto the mowing machine that is the dm4!! But thats just me

Put it this way, I test a LOT of guns for PGi and I use one of those presets with 95% of them, all without any problems at all. The only one I've ever really had a problem with is some versions of Angels where they HAD to have an input below 600 to shoot under 300FPS because of the front reg. Everything else, well they've worked fine enough for me.


One way of thinking about the air is in the steps down it takes.

In the bottle is 4500psi (normally)

Out the front of the bottle's reg, through the hose to the front reg is (normally) either 850 or 450psi.

Out of the top of the front reg (where it screws into the gun and does it's thing) can usually be anywhere between 150psi and 350psi depending on the gun and the setup.

If your gun has an LPR to cycle the bolt and things, then that usually takes the (for arguments sake) 200psi output from the front reg, and lowers it to 50psi to move the bolt around. The remaining 200psi air is what is released when the bolt comes forward and the valve is opened.
