i know some people are gonna get on thier high horse about my comments but you did ask.

the marshaling....
i spoke to blakey about this on the sunday by the way.

i didnt notice (in our games anyway) any form of biast marshalling, which is good but even taking in to account the heat, the marshaling was slow with many but not all marshals ambling around with no real signs of urgency.

the playing surface on the fields was not what we are starting to expect, but it was reasonable.

the sup-air fields were too small (i know it was 5 man) with many of the barricades needing inflating more through the day.

the concept fields, mainly the bobbin field were not up to tournement standard in my eyes.
it was not in any way an even field. more barricades, which were higher from one end with a shorter break from the other.
i actualy enjoyed the barrel field, even though it was constantly falling behind time all day.

all this said and done the tournement was far from being a bad one with lots of geed points.

parking was sufficient and not too far from the safe area.
i did notice that people were spending quite a bit of time making sure the staging area and marquee were as clean and tidy as possible.
the marquee had plenty of space for the teams in there to set up in reasonable comfort.
loud P.A (somtimes too loud) no one could say they didnt know they were due out.
every effort seemed to be made to keep the schedule to plan.
enough trade to provide almost every thing you could need on the day.

one big last point...................

all the regular marshals are aproachable and do seem to take on board any complaints that you do voice to them and do seem to try to help rectify anything that they can a.s.a.p. (i dont mean reversing calls, i mean trying to make sure they dont happen again)
i have never tried to run a tournement myself so therefore i could never comprehend the logistics involved in getting somthing like this running, nor would i want the hasstle that it must bring. so i do apprecate the effort that blakey, les, mark and all the other m.m crew put in.

as i see it without people passing thier comments on instead of bitching to thier mates things cant be changed.

Another very well run event from the midlands masters, well done guys.

The marshalling was spot on for us all day, not a single complaint, after marshalling at the last M25, I can really appreciate the job these guys do especially in the heat.

The field set ups were very interesting to say the least, spent a lot of time walking them and it paid off big time, execpt for field 3 which we couldnt get our heads round, thank god we only played it once :D

Ok the netting could of been better, but the expense involved netting off all the fields must be immense, not to mention the time needed, although it would of been a nice touch to have the car park netted off.

thanks to all the teams in division B, some very tough games, without tough teams coming first wouldnt of be so great :D

ratty,
you obviously have an opinion, care to share.

Agree with most of the comments on here so far, marshalling was ok, some of the newer marshalls need a bit more practice to get some confidence under thier belts, Im sure that will come with time tho....

Netting was ok, would be nice if we could have fields netted off properly as per Ancaster (almost) so that people could spectate and in that sort of heat we could leave masks off till last minute...

Sup Air Fields were fun in places and challenging, field 4 was a real tester (but quite small), loved field 1 and 5.... the "concept" fields were a bit naff and I know my preference would be for all supair, but thats just my opinion :)

It was my first foray into Division B after coming from E/F, having just joined Team Vortex, and I loved it... Thanks to the teams in Div B, it was hard work, and second wasnt bad :)

Well, this was my first MM event & my opinion........I don't know.
It would have been appreciated if we could have removed a side from the set-up tent ('twas like a sauna in there), shouldn't the fields be netted all round as they are at KOTH ? The marshalling was O.K. hey, we all make mistakes, right ? My only real gripe was over the 2 successive byes we had to endure eg:- game 1-09:45, game 2- 10:15, game 3- 11:05, game 4(bye)- 11:15, game 5(bye)-13:45, game 6- 15:15.
This meant a wait between games 3&6 of 4hours10mins !!!!!
By 3:15 we were all well pi**ed off, hot, bored, stiff, sunstroked & VERY irate. (apologies to everyone who tried to speak to me after 3:15) Surely games could be re-organised to fill any vacant time-slots/empty fields? We were told that we would be playing extra games after 4:00, fair enough. But stick onto this the drive time back oop north (& the fact that some of us set off at 4 in the morning) & it makes for a long, dull day. Over all, the games we played (lost all but 1, doesn't matter) I really enjoyed, much more fast-paced than I'm used to.
In conclusion (finally) I'll play the next round & see what happens. At least Ancaster's not too far to travel.

When teams fail to show up on the morning of the event, its pretty hard to re-jig the running order- unfortunately, its the way it is. Sorry :(

But, division F, team 9 had never been filled. Why was that one even on the fixtures list ?
Best thing to do is to ask Blakey then, as I'm in no position to comment on that.

can beat the wait robb m8..we had a 4.40hr wait from game 5 to game 6 not the best realy when ye on a roll.

as for marshals its easy to moan.....one mans good call is another mans bad call. as Blakey says at the captains meeting "live with it."

BUT each field still plays the rules diff

1. break point. barrel touching...then it was foot touching...then behined with barrel touching. can we get it set up so its just one?

2. dead players. leave with hand up.....leave with hand on head...ye sounds daft but but one poor bloke was threated with 1 for 1 for doing the wrong 1 for the field.

3. 1 for 1. front player comes off the break into front bunker hes in there for like five mins never shoots a shot or comes out......gets clipped on side of boot but dont see it. marshel 1 for 1s him for playing on....a ball never left his gun all game.

4. same field. player plays on after getting into bunker with 2 hits on self check zone no 1 4 1 used and it was not a couple of balls he fired off it was like half a hopper.

5. player clipped on head stops shooting calls for paint check gets a load of **** off marshal for not walking...

now we had a good day and none of the these happened to are team. but there needs to be a sort out on the rules so we all know were we stand.

Due to two teams not showing on the day

....................and two teams pulling out on Saturday, it was very difficult to reschedule again, we had already redrawn the rota on Saturday afternoon, and all the teams in Division F were told before lunch that we were organising 2 extra games for them at the end of the tourny.

Safety is paramount at the MM, and the netting that was erected served to contain the safe area, and provide a barrier between fields, however you may be pleased to know, (or not, co's some people can never be pleased) that the land owner is considering erecting telegraph poles similar to those at Ancaster and Uttoxeter.

MM is not a full time paintball business, these events are run by guys n gals who all have other jobs/studies, we endeavour to do our best, and try our hardest to improve our series for you the player.

Any comments on how you think we can improve will be acted upon if appropriate.

Blakey.
