So...is teh Ego actually any good?

I'm not doubting Planets legendary build quality, however, I've not seen any in depth reviews.

Looking more for:
"I have an Ego, it does this and this, I was impressed by this, it delivered this efficiency, the trigger is compareable to this" etc.

Rather than:
"EGO's 'kin rool dude! Beats the ****e outa evyfin els, they do 'kin 38Bps. Wen am old enuf to grow pubes an get papa rond, I'm gettin one defo!"

Cheers peeps n peepettes.:D

Had mine about 6 weeks Skeet. To be fair though I only got around to trying it on Sunday when I eventually went to a site and got some air :)

First thing you notice about it is it is light, as in with a 1.1 tank and loader attached it feels as heavy as some markers on there own!!

With a 1.1 tank and an Egg on it it feels very well balanced. I did have a Halo on it but for some reason it just felt wrong, don't ask why it just felt more balanced with the Egg.

Gassed it up, took it over to the chrono expecting it to need adjusting as pretty much every marker I have owned has required.

Put some old Chronic through it and was suprised to see it chroning at 290 +/- about 5 straight out the box no tweaking.

Then thought I'd rag a hopper through it. Had 3or 4 bursts but put this down to crap paint.

Grabbed some new RPS menace out the car, again threw a hopper out as fast as I could, no breaks this time which reaffirmed it was the quality of the paint causing the bursts.

Played a couple of games with it and found it very nice indeed. Very easy to throw strings of paint out with it. The trigger to me feels somewhere between an e-blade and a mech swing cocker. There is quite a lot of movement in the pull (about 3mm or so) which is a lot more than most electros nowadays. I don't know if this is to help prevent bounce or what though but personally I found it nice and 'springy'.

Tried all ways to get the thing to bounce as well and could not so the TT filters seemed to be playing as advertised.

Can't really say much else as I only had a few hours play. Will have abetter idea after training on the weekend to see how many shots etc I'm getting out of a fill etc :)

love mine when its working ok,I had a few probs 2nd-3rd time out with it spoke to Nick made a few ajustments, (made sure eyes where lined up) Ditched me halo in favor of the egg due to hearing about possible detent problems(not confirmed as far as i know).
Not any faster than my 03 shocker or the turtle half block i had with e2 frame, not in my hands anyway,As far as air consumption goes was getting 4 pots & a hopper from a just over a 3000 fill in a 0.7ltr bottle, consistancy over the crono was +- 3 or 4 fps with decent paint & stock barrel,up & down like a yo-yo with crappy paint but arn't they all.
Realy like mine but I like small light markers:D

OK, first off let me say this isn't directed specifically at the Ego as I haven't even seen one. Nor is it specifically aimed at PGI as they are amongst the better mags.

However, personally speaking, my main problem with reviews of pb kit in magazines is that they are always very 'on the fence'.

Now I don't expect mags/websites to slate products from manufacturers who are providing revenue with ads etc but I would like to see reviews that are a little more opinionated. For the most part I have stopped bothering reading the reviews in pb mags as they are virtually all the same...

brief intro about company/gun history
bla bla bla about technical details of gun (e.g. it's a blowback, cocker, open/closed bolt and this is how it works etc)
little bit about how the anno was ok but could be better
little bit about a small machining mark
bit about it being +/- 5-8fps at the chrono
bit about it bursting a couple of balls but that it was down to bad paint
bit about how many shots from a fill
you get the idea

Where's the friggin' percentage score??

In virtually every other consumer area items are rated. I know I have to do this for the areas I write in (mostly computer related)

And I don't want to see a poxy 'out of 5' rating system - I want a percentage. Furthermore I want review scores broken down. E.g.

**********************
Ease of use: 8 - flick it on, input the right air pressure and it's good to go
Looks: 6 - it's a tired design but the blobblaster still has a place in our hearts
Support: 9 - Blobblaster inc has always provided great support
Running Costs: 5 - Like previous bloblasters these get through 9v like Reagan gets through post it notes
Maintenance: 5 - This needs the bolt lubing after at least every case

Total 65%
Does the job but we'd like the next version to address the power hungry tendencies and enjoy a less time intensive maintenance requirement
***********************

Point being with all markers approaching such similar levels of performance I think the average Joe needs a better indication of how the experts view this product.

Just my opinion of course but for the most part pb kit reviews reek of lazy journalism.
