Snow play

I've played in the snow a bunch of times and it can be a lot of fun. You can check out some pictures from last winter right here.

Darren, the obnoxious git, even stopped during a game to pose for the photographer! :D

If you're going to play in the snow remember to bring extra gloves and socks. Nothing's worse than trying to reload your hopper and spilling half your pod because your hands are shaking so badly :D :p

Also, speedball becomes more like "slowball". Ever try running through six inches of snow? Even the fast guys look more like backmen when they run. :D

At least sliding into bunkers is less embarrassing for us full-sized backmen.

My first game ever was at a site called DRS, near Dorking in December in the snow. Think we were using PMI Pirahnahs...the old pump ones. It was cold, wet, and we lost every game. Still, the fact I'm still playing 10 years later must mean it wasn't all that bad.

Loads of places...Campaign, Mayhem, Sparklies in Maidenhead, have even been know to go to Allied Command (cos I used to work there) but they have basically stopped doing any walk on stuff. Anywhere around the M25 is good for me

Whyzzat, you from around these parts?

I live in Maine, USA, so snow for us is common. If its just a light powder then slides are crazy and runnning is hard. But if its several feet, then a bunch of my friends and I just pick an area in the woods and go at it. The snow limits your mobility drastically, and because its natural woods decent cover is scarce, also, the snow dampens any sound, so firing sounds really distant, you can't hear communications too well, and you can't hear someone walking until their almost on top of you. Mostly, it comes down to who spots who first, which disintegrates into players dumping pod after pod at pine trees and shrubs. This is fun for a while, but the cold and wet gets to you soon. Definately try it, its a blast for a few games, but don't plan on spending the whole day laying in a snowy ditch.
