ok this is being pasted from ringer patrol

Ok, having been to lots of international and local paintball events, I think I can safely say that there has been an alarming rise in the number of thefts of our beautiful markers.

Obviously, people are now realsing the values of these items and it is becoming a bit of a hot market. So, how do you protect your stuff?

Well, I saw this new SMARTWATER stuff being used and it is the dogs. It will not stain or mark your equipment and leaves an almost permenant identification mark. This system is known and used by most police forces in the UK and can reduce your insurance premiums. One kit will do your whole teams markers so you can split the cost, definately worth spending that couple of quid to give yourself the chance to get your stuff back.

I've looked at this previously, (I posted up about a marker database before my 21st and I seem to have lost bits :p )
it is similar to the alpha dot system, ( again another I have looked at),whilst chatting to my local police crime prevention fellow, (getting past the half hour of me explaining who I knew in paintball that was in my copy of pbuk, and showing him how fast I could pull the trigger ( no air system/ paint)) the responce was basically they won't look for these marking ( alpha dot or smart water) unless you have a pretty sticker on it which is not all that likely, due to us paintballers being a vain bunch. one thing I am still looking at is those animal chips ( anyone with a cat or dog may know) but I am having trouble finding a supplier in the uk, my vets just look at me like I'm weird, I am also working out ( hows this for dedication, physics!) if the magnetic field generated will have any effect on boards.

I never thought it would be this difficult to mark something so that the police knew it was mine! esp when there is a serial number on it.

Sorry on two counts, firstly posting so much! secondly I hope you don't think I shot it down in flames.

Currently the best thing I can think of is either
1) events get some security only has to be one person ( PA cup, Liz on front desk)
2) lock bags and don't leave guns lying around.

I'll keep you all posted as to what the police say and if this chip thingy works.

A friend has just told me of an electronic tag device used in models. It's pretty small apparently, and as soon as i have details i'll post them here. Police friendly as well.

officialy the funniest comeback I have ever read.
On a related not......... don't laugh when drinking aftershock...... it just came down my nose.
1) it burns, oh god it burns.
2) now all I can smell is cinammon
3) it's very, very sticky.

and, on another related note.... never snort hot water to remove aftershock from your sinuses.
1) it burns
2) now I can't smell anything
3) I almost drowned.

merry Christmas.

I thank you...:D *bows*

On an unrelated note...im currently watching Celebrity The Weakest Link, which has Rick Waller, being kicked off on it...
I turned to my 7 year old daughter and said "Did you know, Rick Waller comes from Gillingham?" (Slightly rundown area near me)
"No...(she replied)..Is that why he's so fat?"
"Possibly!" I said!!! Thats quite funny...

Tim The Yank, marked his girlfriend for Tagging,
To stop her escaping a sha**ing,
He grabbed hold of the Scruff, 'twix bumhole and muff,
Saying "I'll stop your tail from Wagging!"
