Smart Parts are after everyone :) now its cockers!

Hmmmmm

Having read the whole of that patent application I don't really see how this affects E-Blades, Race Guns or any kind of cocker. The basis of the patent is that electro-pneumatically only fired paintballs are more accurate than those that utilise a spring (and therefore I would assume a hammer/valve assembly) in their firing sequence. As far as I can see this would only relate to spool valve designs (i.e. Shocker and Matrix) and the old Shocker. The patent goes on to describe the use of two solenoids to perform the firing sequence (like the old Shocker) and again stipulates the benifits of this over the use of springs.
I am not sure where they are going with this one but I am betting that this must be more related to the Nerve than anything else although the pictures in the patent appear to be the old style Shocker as far as I can tell. On the other hand you could use this patent to virtually describe the spool valve action of the Matrix and current Shocker (both obvioulsy use a single solenoid but hey, its a US patent so I am not sure we have to be that accurate!!) - the problem with this is that I believe an existing patent for the spool valve (used to shoot paintballs) already exists (but then again, this is a US patent and if they ever checked for prior art then SP would never have got their first patent).

Its very obscure, probably on purpose.

How I read it is that they have invented a marker which does not need a spring to propell the hammer into the valve.

I know most cupseal type valves contain a spring but they describe other guns as spring loaded, that must mean the spring is compressed to store energy, unlike the valves in most paintball markers today where the spring is there to keep the valve closed.

The only markers which can be described as spring loaded are cockers and blowbacks.

So they have a gun which is not spring loaded(in other words its not a cocker or a blowback, theres prolly others I have missed), that uses an electropneumatic flow distribution device to cock and fire the gun. I can name about 20 peices of prior art right now!!!
