You are correct in saying they aren't any where near as powerfull as today's semis. The side arms are exactly that--they stay on your side in a holster or whatever except in an emergency. You aren't going to get any kind of range with them (the barrels on the one's I've seen aren't good and only 8" or so long.

The way I've seen these used is when someone is about to be rushed and their main weapon ran out of paintballs or something. That or being able to shoot with 2 guns to trick the oponent. These things just aren't for any extended play.

I don't have experience with the PT Extreems, but if they are like others, I wouldn't count on them for much more than 25-35' IMO.

check out the sidearm semi auto pistol from www.paintballstuff.com. i have one and it performed pretty good the few times i actually used it in a game. at first i thought it would be a cool thing to have, you know, a back up gun. but it seems that it gets in the way and is more trouble than it is worth in my opinion...and because i find that i cant get it out or arent ready in situations where it would be best suited. but thats just me...im making the move to the tourney scene so its a good thing i dont rely on it (since they arent allowed in most tourneys) good luck though...let us know what u decide!

Thats exactly what I was thinking, with the fast paced nature of todays games do you really have time to realise that you need to pull out your reserve pistol, pull it out, aim, and then fire before you get lit up like an xmas tree by the opponents super fast E-matrix or something to that effect.

Would be cool for messing around in the back garden with tho :)

yeah, i pretty much only use it when i feel like ripping off a few shot without having to worry about filling my n2, or having batteries for a loader or anything...just a simple 12 gr and the sidearm. so most of my experience with it is in my backyard..lol

The url was just to get the number for the shop - they stock a whole range of markers from starter kits to pull pro setups the timmy's is just something they where doing a good deal on.

They also stock alot of 32 degrees stuff which make the PT Extreme

Its one of my local stores which seems to drain money out of my account faster than a leech in a blood bank.

Either way Yankee Andy is very helpfull and knows his tech + just don't look at the shiney things to long or he will talk you into buying them even if u don't need them :D

they are dissposable, you can get upto 30 shots out of 1,normally used for pumps and pistols
One of my team mates has the PT exteme on average you only get between 13-15 shots from a 12gm but as I said above you can get a 4 Oz adaptor for the PT which will give you about 200 shots.

EDIT: From what I have been told the online shop for pheonix should hopefully be up and running in the next couple of weeks or so.
