In Iains case it may of been down to dirt in the tank that lead to a velocity spike. I don't know, I've only read what I've heard about here.

what is it technically we are talkin about here? i dont understand whats going on(im a complete fool on the technic side so pls make it easy;) ) when i was filling in bitburg and toulouse i had no problems...was i just lucky or what? or is there a danger of something will happen next time i fill?

its yucky yucky air (not clean i.e contains dust,tiiny weeny metal bits)

this thing makes it to go happy land and come YaY clean air with no yucky evil paritcles and you come mr. happy sun shine!

What it does is quite clear in the first post I think, the need for it is due to the compressers the millenium boys and others use have no filters so they suck in all the dust and crap in the air into your tank!

As for how often the filters need to be changed kinda depends how ****ty your air is.
Famine, if you play MS you don't get to choose who fils your tanks this is a safeguard to ensure you get clean air. I only wish I'd done this after Germany!!!
