I think the main problem with playing in the woods these days is that many of the players have competed almost exclusively on concept fields. You need to adopt a different style of play for woodland which considers tree stumps, hollows in the ground, branches at throat height etc.
Now I can see both points of view in this discussion, I love sup'air but played woodland back in the days when concept didn't exist (apart from Arenaball once a year) & quite enjoy going back to the slightly sneakier stuff.
I'm just a bit surprised we haven't had Rancid joining this thread yet, ranting on about how sup'air is for wusses & woods is the way for the future!:D :D

50/50 woods and supair - Jan you must be playing a different series, we have only had two total woodland events to my knowledge.
Kidderminster, Wakefield and maybe SWAT (I wasnt there) were all woodland and Nottingham had some Woods fields due to too many players. Maybe not 50% but not too far off :D

There will also be a new format for series 2003 - this is currently being sorted
Hmmm... This sounds interesting.

Also new for 2003 in conjunction with the Midland Masters, the SWPL and hopefully another event organiser the ************ ************** series. Sorry still in the discussion stages so you will have to wait.

There is a lot happening so "watch this space" later in the year
Heh! This sounds even more interesting! Sounds like there is some cool stuff coming up; cant wait to find out what it is!
Jan - maybe some of these barriacades are starting to resemble trees

:D See you on Sunday
Quite likely... My eyesight is getting much worse from spending too much time at this damn computer!

Keep up the good work Bully, Cheers

Jan.

Sorry

Forgot Swat in my calculation, although two out of the three fields were speedball fields.

Yes there was woodland at Nottingham.

But do you suggest I restrict the entries to match the supairvball fields we can use? or drop some venues as they are not big enough for the events (if woodland is not used)

Any ideas

No more info on the ********************* series until the beginning of October. Series 2003 dates will be sorted by then as well.

Steve

See you all on Sunday

Had a good day putting two supair ball fields up at Quibbell park. It is looking good. If I get chance on Saturday night I will put some pictures on the web site as well as the draw.

I am one of the old school who has played most of my paintball in woods.

I have only recently tried Supair ball and love it.

I would like to see some woodland games just to show a teams all round skills and not just on Supair Ball.

Liz is right if you have played most of the time on Supair, woods will come as a bit of a shock.

Speedball is definately the concensus of most teams in the MM circle.......

Us pimps have competed solely on air'ball this season and found the woodland event at kidderminster the other weekend, well.... boring. Too much diggin in and not much aggression (which is more our style), you think cuz you cant see anyone that you can do a move, only to find out some pesky fool is pokin his barrel through the gaps in the barricades (eh jase! - dont panic).
Although we came fourth in the division (A) we still found we coulda done better, like at Uttoxeter were we came first on solely airball...

But let us not forget the old Skool players amongst us who like woodland and grew up with it. Perhaps old skool teams are afraid of the new generation of air'ball bred players:confused: , i know i would be;)
