To be honest I wasnt going to post about the event, but it seems that the rest of you were playing with your heads in the sand/ mud and clearly didnt watch any games???

The event was well organised as usual, ran to time not to long between games, the fields could have used a couple more barricades but on the whole very good different to the usual mundane(sp) fields.

The weather was quite good even a little bit of sun.

The magic blue rope round the netting WTF may need a re-think I got more paint coming over the netting and hitting me stood behind it than i ever have in the last 6 years stood next to the netting.

I can even agree with Jose "there was some superb marshalling", the operative word there was SOME (the hyperball field) most of it for want of a better description was a bag of tits!!!! No where near the standard of last year, loads of really bad decisions judges blatently checking the wrong sides of players not seeing obvious hits, not going in to check players and I even noticed on one field they were stood at the side netting as if they were afraid to get hit. The thing that got to me most was players getting hit, the judge seeing it going in to pull the guy out and a little bit arguing later the player being called clean????
I know its a hard job and no one wants to do it, but when you are doing it put a bit of effort in for god sake take a bit of pride in it, make your decisions and stick to them!!!!!!!

Before it gets said, and it will this rant was not to do with any incident that happend to me or my team we had a good day and got a "reasonable result" but thats another story Phoenexus;) .

We will be marshalling one of the events this year (I might even go on the field) and I hope that when we do someone gives there honest opinion of how we did.....
c u all at the next leg

I can only comment on the games I was part of, the marshals were great and right on the ball....... firm but fair. Pulling for overshoot, playing on etc.... good on the breaks too.... making sure everyone was behind the screen and guns down. As for the rest? I don't know, I was too busy between games to watch more than one or two. Some paint did come over the net (we were at ground zero next to the burger van) but it was all up and over and bounces from the tapeline bunkers. Nothing getting through holes in nets etc....
No probs at all for my lot. They all thoroughly enjoyed it.

well i wasnt going to comment but , i seen some really bad marshalling on field 1 , ie we marshalled last years events , got stuck in, asiff we were playing keeping up with play , sliding around . unfortunatley , there seemed some very little marshalling experience on field one , i got taken out for leaning on the bunker to mug a baller , afterwards the marshall said to me , he seen the hit , then the other team said we are firing green , i had purple on my elbow, from the bunker, i think it cost us the game as i was on the 50, but the ultimate then replied you wouldnt have won the game from there , now thats sad and personell . comments like that should be kept to him self , as paint balling isnt the cheepest sport ,

but we are all human and i do know its not the nicest of jobs , but guys this sport is our game and to provide marshalls that will get stuck in and even not be afraid of getting shot is what is needed, just like the Manchester Marshalls , these guys are pros , course they make the odd mistake but they then have the balls and Knowledge of the game rules etc to sort out where it went wrong .
Hope im not opening a can of worms but i had to reply to your thread.
